Cybersecurity Chief Urges Action by Congress
I was trying to take this article seriously until I read "swift action" and "Congress" in the same sentence. Unless it's a pay raise for themselves, there is no such thing as swift action on Capitol Hill.
The head of the Pentagon's Cyber Command on Monday called for swift action in Congress to sort out roles, standards and authorities for government agencies charged with defending against destructive computer attacks. "The conflict is growing, the probability for crisis is mounting," he said. "While we have the time, we should think about and enact those things that we need to ensure our security in this area. Do it now, before a crisis."

Google To Pay $22.5M To Settle Privacy Charges
Although $22.5 million is the largest fine ever levied on a company by the FTC, this is Google we are talking about, the company made $25 million in the time it took you to read this.
The fine would be the largest penalty ever levied on a single company by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, the Journal said late Monday. The charges involve Google's use of special computer code, or "cookies," to trick Apple's Safari browser so Google could monitor users that had blocked such tracking, the newspaper said.

The company previously forecasted second quarter 2012 revenue to increase 3 percent, plus or minus 3 percent sequentially. The lower preliminary revenue results are primarily due to business conditions that materialized late in the second quarter, specifically softer-than-expected channel sales in China and Europe as well as a weaker consumer buying environment impacting the company's Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) business.

Apple Removes Green Electronics Certification From Products
I guess you can check "environmentally friendly electronics" off Apple's complete line of products. Why? Well, it seems as though Apple actually requested its products be removed from the list because the company's design direction was "no longer consistent" with EPEAT requirements. Whatever the hell that means.
One of Apple's newest products, the MacBook Pro with a high-resolution "Retina" display, was nearly impossible to fully disassemble, said Kyle Wiens, co-founder of iFixit.com, a website that provides directions for users to repair their own machines. The battery was glued to the case, and the glass display was glued to its back. The product, released just a month ago, had not been submitted for EPEAT certification, according to the organization.
