Dell announces 'storage blades,' converged data center strategy
At its annual storage conference, Dell today announced a storage array in a server blade form factor that can be combined with networking and server blades in a single chassis. Each Dell EqualLogic PS-M4110 Blade Array comes in four models and can hold up to 14 drives for up to 14TB of data per array, up to 28TB per group (two blades) inside a blade chassis, and up to 56TB with two groups inside one blade chassis. Amazon pitches MySQL in the cloud for $19 a month
Amazon Web Services has introduced a micro version of its cloud-based database service RDS running MySQL and priced from $19 a month, the company said on Monday. Just like Amazon's other cloud services, RDS (Relational Database Service) takes care of set-up, operations and scaling. ITC rejects Google patents in HTC's legal dispute aganist Apple
The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has tossed out five Google patents assigned to High Tech Computer in support of its legal complaint against Apple, dealing a blow to the Taiwanese smartphone maker's court dispute to stop the import of the iPhone, iPad, and other Apple products into the country for alleged patent infringement. The ITC rejected an investigation of the five former Google patents, said HTC spokeswoman Jessica Pan on Tuesday.

Fusion-IO on-server flash coming to Cisco's UCS blade systems
Cisco Systems will get on board with Fusion-IO's flash storage modules later this year, becoming the latest server maker to offer the technology that is already available in servers from IBM, Dell and Hewlett-Packard. On Monday, Fusion-IO announced its first OEM (original equipment manufacturer) partnership with Cisco. The company will supply its ioMemory modules and software for use in Cisco's B-Series Unified Computing System (UCS) blade servers. It will provide demonstrations at the Cisco Live user conference, which is taking place this week in San Diego.
