Tour the Titanic with Google Earth
If you aren't familiar with the 100th anniversary memorials of the Titanic you will be soon. With one day left until the anniversary of the ship's sinking and National Geographic Specials galore, it will be hard to miss. Google Earth has made possible to tour a 3D model of the ship as it lies in pieces on the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.

Facebook Beat Twitter to Instagram
Instagram owners must have felt like the belles of the ball this week, even before Facebook planked down one Billion dollars for the photo sharing program. Facebook was not the only suitor wooing the company; Google and Twitter were also vying to win the hand of the fair company.


Not only did Facebook beat Google to the purchase of Instagram, but it also beat out Twitter, according to a recent rumor. Twitter co-founder and Instagram investor Jack Dorsey was hurt.

D-Link Releases Streaming-Only Media Player
D-Link is teaming up with Walmart to offer a streaming-only video set-top box called the MovieNite. The 1080p media player will retail for only $48 dollars, making it a player among players.


Since D-Link has preloaded a specific set of applications to the device, the remote that comes with the player has specific buttons for launching the VUDU, Netflix, Pandora and YouTube apps

Game Sales Continue Slide, Fall 25 Percent in March
The month of March, just like the preceding three months, saw more declines in the sale of video games. According to NDP Group, Inc, sales have declined for four straight months in the US, falling 25% in March alone compared to the previous year. Gaming consoles fared even worse, falling 35%.


Sales of video games dropped 25 percent to $553.1 million, according to NPD, as cited by game blogs and wire services

TurboTax Returns Won't Print? Blame Microsoft
Welcome to Tax Weekend 2012, TurboTax users. Just in time for this momentous weekend just prior to the income tax filing deadline, Microsoft has managed to release a patch to .Net Framework that prevents Intuit's TurboTax from printing your tax return. There's nothing like adding insult to injury.


You may briefly see a Generating Document message but the paperwork never prints.\" Intuit says it\'s working on a fix, and it expects to release a \"corrective update\" today.

Fake Angry Birds Space Game for Android Has Malware
The birds may not be to only ones angry if you download a fake version of the wildly popular game. Angry Birds Space has been downloaded over 10 million times and now has a fake counterpart which is something like Angry Birds Space Plus. The Plus of course is a Trojan horse called Andr/KongFu-L. Be careful to verify the download from the developer, Rovio, and not a knockoff.


The best way to avoid any malware in Google Play is to verify the developer is legitimate before downloading any app

'Software Engineer' Tops List of 2012′s Best Jobs
CareerCast compiled a list of the top 200 jobs for 2012. If you are working as a software engineer, then you are sitting in the best job in the US, based on five major deciding factors. If you are a lumberjack, you might be at the top in the trees, but you are at the bottom of the list for job satisfaction.

The site, which used Department of Labor statistics, pegged the average income of a software engineer at $88,142.

Study: Beer Makes Men Smarter
If that is truly the case, I must be a genius. A new study at the University of Illinois in Chicago found that men drinking a few beers were more adept in problem solving than non-drinkers. The study only involved male subjects; the women were too smart to participate.


"We found at 0.07 blood alcohol, people were worse at working memory tasks, but they were better at creative problem-solving tasks"

Samsung has confirmed that the company will be releasing at least one Windows Phone running the next-gen Windows Phone 8 Apollo update in October. Samsung reportedly has three new phones ready for release late in Q-4.

iPhone Users Sue AT&T for 'Aiding and Abetting'
We touched on the original story a few months ago and now it has moved on to the lawsuit stage. A class action lawsuit has been filed in California against AT&T for aiding and abetting theft of smartphones through negligent preventive actions.


The plaintiffs claim that AT&T has willfully aided and abetted the thieves because the company knows that the deprived owners will simply buy new devices.

Leaked Microsoft Road Map Shows 2013 Launch for Office 15
A leaked PDF Microsoft roadmap covering release dates for several products was found online by a Dutch Microsoft partner. The roadmap puts the next Office being released in Q1 2013 with the Beta making its debut in Q3-Q4 2012. Windows 8 was included in the roadmap, but the release date was not listed.


Microsoft has not assigned the next Office an official name, but has used "Office 15" as a placeholder. The road map used the same label.

One In Five U.S. Adults Do Not Use the Internet
According to a new poll from Pew Research, the Internet is as popular as ever overall, but one fifth of the adults in the U.S. do not access the Internet at all.


Age, household income and education have remained the strongest positive predictors of Internet use since Pew started tracking these numbers.
