Having chatted with Sapphire back at CeBIT a couple of weeks ago, we knew the company is planning on taking a slightly different direction for its future motherboard products and the Pure Platinum A55V looks like it's a step in that direction. What we're looking at is a fairly basic motherboard for AMD's APUs, without being a feature stripped board like what many of Sapphire's competitors are offering when it comes to the A55 chipset.

One downside of Apple's many hand held devices is that they draw a lot of power when charging and the latest iPad is even more power hungry, especially when the battery is running low. As such it's getting to the stage where most computers will no longer be able to charge Apple's portable devices, although for DIY:ers it's less of an issue as many motherboards can deliver more power to the USB ports and in in the case of Gigabyte's new Z77 boards, the new iPad is no match.

We've already reported on the basic information that has leaked so far about Intel's upcoming Valleyview Atom SoC, but it appears that Intel is planning a range of SKUs for various markets according to information that has reached VR-Zone. In fact, the information that was leaked is with regards to Valleyview together with the information we've received points towards a replacement for the embedded E600 series of Atom processors which makes sense considering Advantech's roadmaps.
