51% of US Households Own an Apple Product
A survey conducted by CNBC found that over half of US households owns at least one Apple product. Even 10% of the ones that have no Apple products plan on purchasing something with the Apple brand within the next year. Those are impressive statistics. (and a bit scary to boot)


"Planned obsolescence has always been a part of the technology industries sales model, but Apple has taken it to a whole new level."

Facebook Targeting May IPO
It's looking like May will be the month Facebook will finally get a chance to be the largest-ever Internet IPO on record. Facebook, according to observers, has all of the signs of preparation to go IPO, but exactly when in May is still unknown. The IPO could generate $10 Billion in revenue and raise the value of Facebook to $100 Billion.


Although the secondary market is still young, it is routine for companies to halt trading before an IPO to have time to account for its current shareholder base.

Chapel Hill bans All Cell Phone Use While Driving
Chapel Hill, NC has banned the use of cellphones while driving. The ban includes all forms of cellphone communication, including hands-free. This is the first city in the US to ban all forms of communication while operating a vehicle due to the studies indicating hands-free talking is no safer in reducing cellphone related accidents.


The fact that Chapel Hill has passed a ban on all cellular usage could signal a growing sentiment against cell phone usage while driving, and we could start to see these issues discussed at state and even federal levels.

RIM Delays Annual Investors Meeting Until 'Later This Year'
According to Reuters, RIM spokesperson Tenille Kennedy announced the investors meeting will not be held at the annual Blackberry World. Instead the meeting will be held when the new Blackberry 10 is closer to release. Smart move on RIM's part or just a stall tactic to hold the shaky company together?


"We will hold a separate session targeted at the interests of the investment community later this year, once BlackBerry 10 is launched."

Google Launches "Go" Programming Language
After years of development, Google has announced the release of Go v1.0 programming language. Along with the release of Go, Google also released a newly revised Google App Engine SDK.


Go 1 is the first release that is available in supported binary distributions. They are available for Linux, FreeBSD, Mac OS X and even Windows.

US Military Had 15,634 Megaupload Accounts
According to the owner of MegaUpload, the US Military had over 15k accounts with the file server and storage site. To add insult to injury, it was revealed that not only did the military have accounts there, but also other branches of the US government like Homeland Security and the Senate.

While the MPAA and RIAA insist that the site was simply a huge piracy hub, the facts point to a much bigger picture of people using the site for countless legitimate transfers of files simply too big to email.

Intel Ivy Bridge Launch Confirmed for April 29
After the on again, off again delays, Intel announced on Tuesday that the awaited debut of Ivy Bridge will be on April 29th.


There is some good news in that the mobile processors will be released at the same time as their desktop counterparts. It had been believed that the mobile side of things wouldn't be available until at least June.

The 2013 Cadillac will be sporting a brand new safety feature that undoubtedly become the butt of jokes mainly due to the fact your butt plays a big role in hazard recognition. Cadillac will be introducing the Safety Alert Seat that alerts the driver to potential danger through pulse patterns in the driver's seat. Talk about driving by the seat of your pants.
