Anti-SOPA Internet Society Under Fire for Hiring MPAA Executive
Wait a second, wouldn't this be the perfect guy for the job? He knows how the enemy thinks, their strategy and how to read the MPAA's super secret decoder ring. Think about it.

"It seems puzzling that ISOC would make this particular selection for such an important position, given Mr. Brigner's public condemnation of Net neutrality while at Verizon, and his own postings in strong support of Protect IP while at the MPAA," says Lauren Weinstein of People For Internet Responsibility, which has opposed SOPA and favors Net neutrality regulations.

NATO Launches Exercise To Beef Up Cyber Defense
NATO is running mock cyber defense battles to sharpen their skills? Ummm, no comment.

NATO's Tallinn-based cyber defense centre on Monday launched a three-day exercise involving European IT and legal experts in a bid to beef up cyber defense skills through gaming. The "Locked Shields 2012" initiative involves cyber battles between two teams, Kristiina Pennar, a spokeswoman for the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defense Centre of Excellence told AFP.

Why Linux on the Desktop Isn't Dead
This must be one of those "good cop - bad cop" things. You get one guy to post a "Linux is teh sux article" and then you follow it up the next day with a "that other guy is an idiot" article. Thanks to Dennis Deveaux for the link.

I can only speculate as to the authors' motives for making these weary proclamations, because they're nothing if not light on real information. What I can do, however, is point out a few small problems with their arguments.

A Site Where Getting Poached Is The Whole Point
A website that caters to people wanting to be "poached?" I give it a month before employers start using the site to see which one of their employees are planning on quitting.

When building the site in his spare time, John Everett Creighton said he drew on his own experience. As an MIT graduate with a degree in physics and nuclear engineering, he was in hot demand when entering the job market and had to juggle multiple offers and rounds of negotiations. Creighton sought to simplify that process by putting the skilled worker in the driver's seat: "I thought, what if it's the other way around. These companies need good engineers more than the engineers need them."

GTA5 Details Leaked?
According to the rumor mill, GTA5 will be shown (in playable form) at E3 this year. I'm not holding my breath on this one but it would be kinda cool if this turns out to be true.

Some details emerged on the GameSpot forums that allegedly reveal specifics about the characters and story in Grand Theft Auto V, the next installment in the open-world action series, said to have been spilled by a disgruntled former employee. The post was deleted, but VG247 notes it can still be found on the Google cache. According to the post, the game will be shown in playable form at E3 this year, and the game is expected in May 2013.

Today's Random [H] Sighting is brought to you by the number 20 and the word "grand." [H] reader Edward C. apologized for the missing arms on the letter "H" and explained it was because he was short the ten grand needed to make a full one. I think we can let him slide.

Facebook Moves to Dismiss NY Man's Ownership Claim
Dear Mark Zuckerberg, you could have bought this guy off with a quarter of what you've spent on lawyers.

Attorneys for Menlo Park, Calif.-based Facebook and its founder Mark Zuckerberg say they've proved over several months that the two-page contract and emails on which Paul Ceglia's lawsuit are based are fraudulent. Ceglia's lead attorney, Dean Boland, says the lawsuit can't be dismissed just because the findings of Facebook's experts contradict those of Ceglia's experts.

Silverstone Temjin TJ-04E Case
The fellas at Pro-Clockers have the Silverstone Temjin TJ-04E case strapped to the test bench today for a little review action. Here's a quote to get you started:

The TJ04E from the outside does look a little simplistic but that is part of the elegant sleek look that we have seen not only from Silverstone but other manufacturers as well. The thick aluminum front panel and completely square corners is just part of it. There is the addition of 2.5" and 3.5" drive capacity increase which is unreal for a mid-tower. And users of longer video cards will not have to remove HDD cages like in many of the other cases on the market. So, you can have your file server and gaming rig all in one case.
