The company's new log-out page ads are selling for $710,000 for a day's run in the U.S. market, according to Ad Age Digital.

Brazilian City Using Computer Chips to Track Students
A school system in Brazil is implementing the use of Intelligent Uniforms to keep track of its students. The chip imbedded shirts alert parents when the student arrives at school and sends out a cell phone text message. Wow, I guess Big Brother really is watching.
Parents are also alerted if kids don't show up 20 minutes after classes begin with the following message: "Your child has still not arrived at school."

Europe's ATV Space Freighter Launches
The International Space Station is getting some much needed supplies delivered to their door courtesy of the European Space Agency. The unmanned Automatic Transfer Vehicle (ATV) sat atop an Ariane 5 rocket launching from French Guiana for the 240 mile trip into space. The space truck will deliver approximately seven tons of supplies to the ISS and remain docked to the station until September.

RIM to Release BlackBerry 10 Prototype in May
RIM looks to be rolling the dice again, this time betting on the Blackberry 10, scheduled to be released to developers on May 10th. RIM is trying to get back in smartphone contention and is placing a lot of stock (both literally and figuratively) in the upcoming developer release of the BB10 to get the company back in the competition.
"The experience on this device from a consumer's perspective is not in any way indicative of what the final experience on BlackBerry 10 will be like," he said. "We are holding that back to create the interest around that at launch time."

A bill introduced in the House this week could possibly violate gamer's right to free speech according to the civil liberties group Electronic Frontier Foundation. The bill "Violence in Video Games Labeling Act" would require a cigarette pack-style warning on the packaging declaring the game may cause aggressive behavior.

NASA Announces Discovery of New Planetary Systems
The chances of us being alone in the universe are getting slimmer with each Kepler project discovery. The latest finding is 11 new planetary systems containing a known 26 planets, some with the possibility of near Earth-like conditions.
"Now, in just two years staring at a patch of sky not much bigger than your fist, Kepler has discovered more than 60 planets and more than 2,300 planet candidates. This tells us that our galaxy is positively loaded with planets of all sizes and orbits."

iPad's Color Quality Causes 30% Increase in Power Usage
The increased color reproduction of the new iPad 3 has come with a price of sorts: a 30% increase in power usage. It's a bet that Apple took these numbers into consideration before making the splashy debut last week, but first impressions are lasting impressions. Ooh, pretty colors.
The new technology resulted in a spike in power consumption, however, because the improved filters let less light through than inefficient versions.
