Clearwire plans $300 million stock offering for LTE
Clearwire plans to raise as much as $345 million in stock transactions to help fund its LTE (Long Term Evolution) network deployment and other activities. The U.S. WiMax carrier told the Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday that it will offer $300 million of its Class A common stock and also grant the underwriters of the offering an option to buy as much as $45 million of Class A shares. It plans to use the proceeds to deploy its planned LTE network alongside its existing WiMax infrastructure, and for network maintenance and operation and other purposes.

8 companies hit with lawsuit over Carrier IQ software
Apple is one of eight companies that have been named in another class-action lawsuit filed over the use of Carrier IQ software in mobile handsets. The lawsuit was filed last Friday in U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware and accuses Carrier IQ, three wireless carriers, and four handset makers of violating the Federal Wiretap Act, the Stored Electronic Communications Act, and the Federal Computer Fraud and Abuse Act.

PHP 5.4 emerges from the collapse of PHP 6.0
With the pending release of PHP version 5.4 early next year, the creators behind the popular Web scripting language are including the best parts of the now-abandoned PHP 6.0 project. IBM buys Cúram Software for social service program delivery
IBM is strengthening its hand in public-sector IT, announcing on Monday the purchase of Cúram Software, which makes applications for use by government social programs. Terms of the deal, which is expected to close before the end of December, were not disclosed. Cúram is based in Dublin and has roughly 700 employees. Its products are used by about 80 government-related health, employment and welfare programs worldwide to deliver services more efficiently, according to IBM.
