Intel quietly preparing Core i7-2700K
For more than nine months, the Core i7-2600K has held court as Intel's fastest Sandy Bridge CPU. Now, there's word of a new chip destined to supplant the 2600K atop the LGA1155 ladder. CPU-World has discovered product codes in Intel's Material Declaration Data Sheets that point to the existence of a Core i7-2700K.
Specifications aren't available for the new CPU, but we can hazard a few guesses. The 2700K is likely to retain the four cores, Hyper-Threading support, and cache sizes found in the 2600K. If Intel sticks to the same 100MHz increments it's been ...

AMD FX-series chips show up in early listings
Last we checked, AMD hadn't even announced shipments of desktop Bulldozer processors yet, and server-based offerings that were shipping weren't due out until the fourth quarter. That hasn't stopped a small, U.S.-based e-tailer from jumping the gun and putting up listings for FX-series Bulldozer CPUs, however.

Report: First Windows 8 tablet might be Intel-powered
So, that Windows 8 tablet Microsoft and Samsung are expected to demo at the Build conference this week? Word has it the tablet—or one variant of it—will have an Intel processor inside, despite all the noise Microsoft has been making about Windows 8's ARM processor support.
