Older Gamers More Willing to Pay-to-Play and Save Time
A new survey finds that older mobile social games players are willing to fork over cash to jump ahead to higher levels, saving time in the process. The older the player, the more money they were willing to spend on 'free' games.
But money spent to skip the grind skyrocketed in the older group. Nearly 50 percent of 25- to 34-year-olds reported they spend real money on freemium games, compared with only 16 percent in the younger group.

Shuttered SAP Subsidiary Charged in Oracle Theft
The Justice Department has charged TomorrowNow, the now defunct SAP subsidiary, with twelve counts of theft of software and documents from Oracle. Kinda makes you wonder if the judge last week that called the $1.3 billion jury verdict "grossly excessive" knew these criminal charges were pending.
The case stems from Oracle's discovery that TomorrowNow performed massive downloads of documents that were intended for Oracle customers. Oracle argued that SAP used the stolen information to steal customers. SAP argued that TomorrowNow didn't steal many customers with the information, and should only have to pay $40 million for accounts it did manage to lure away.

Game Devs Post Pirated Game on The Pirate Bay
Uploading a copy of your own game to The Pirate Bay, complete with little pirate suits for the main characters, is pretty funny if you are a small indie game developer. The big AAA game studios? They probably don't think it is quite as amusing.
However, the pirated version of No Time To Explain that was uploaded to The Pirate Bay is rather special. Unlike the regular game it has a clear pirate theme, with all the main characters wearing pirate hats. The game was literally 'pirated'. To confirm the suspicion that the pirate themed game was actually released by the makers themselves, we got in touch with developer Alex Nichiporchik. He confirmed that they are indeed responsible for the release.

AOL and Yahoo merging? This doesn't sound like a good idea at all. Honestly, can anyone name one time when two losers joined forces and suddenly became a winner?
Armstrong had been interested in a merger with Yahoo last year and was rebuffed while Bartz was at the helm, one person said. Her departure prompted him to reconsider the option, and, under one scenario now being considered, Yahoo would acquire AOL and Armstrong would become CEO of the combined company, the person said.
