Adobe updates Flex, one tool, one framework and one code base that run on Web, desktops, smartphones and tablets
A few days ago Adobe released updated models of two of their tools, Flash Builder and Flex have been updated to version 4.5.1, boosting mobile application development support. The updated products support development of applications for various tech, Android, BlackBerry, RIM PlayBook and Apple iOS-based devices. The new upgraded versions of Flash Builder and Flex now cover all major mobile OSs for the first time with Flash Builder 4.5.1 and Flex 4.5.1.

Using Flash Builder and Flex, enterprises can now use one tool, one framework and one code base to create high-performance applications that run on the Web and desktops as well as smartphones and tablets.
Flex Builder is Eclipse-based whilst Flex is an open source framework. Adobe is also set to roll out their Adobe Digital Enterprise Platform which is aimed to "customer experience management" and leverages Adobe tools and runtimes for HTML5, Flash, Flex, AIR and PDF. The cost of the platform's various major components usually start in the $100,000 range. Rob Pinkerton, Adobe senior director of product marketing for customer experience management says that Adobe's rollout provides "one unified platform for developing customer experience applications."This new update can now have solutions to be provided across social, Web, mobile and print channels. This allows specific products to be enabled by the platform that can assist digital marketers in driving personalized experiences for multichannel marketing communications and campaigns both online and offline. Content for use with Adobe Digital Enterprise Platform can be created with Adobe Creative Suite, while analytics can be provided via Adobe Online Marketing Suite.
Products in the Digital Enterprise Platform - some of which were previous announced - include:
Integrated Content Review, for marketing campaigns and customer experiences
Web Experience Management, for developing and publishing rich content across Web, social, mobile, and email channels
Social Brand Engagement, for enterprises to engage with customers
Selection and Enrollment, intended to reduce online abandonment and time-to-market by offering engaging offline and online product enrollment experiences
Unified Workspace, empowering customer-facing agents to span information sources for fast access to critical information
Customer Communications, intended to improve customer loyalty by centralizing and managing the development and delivery of interactive correspondence and interactive statements
However, the Integrated Content Review, Customer Communications and Web Experience Management modules are available Monday, while the other three ship later this year.

Valve to develop games for the Nintendo Wii U?
Gabe Newell spoke to Joystiq at the 2011 Games for Change Festival and gave some thoughts on the upcoming next-gen Nintendo console. Gabe said that the Wii U console "sort of fits better into the scalability in terms of graphics performance and CPU performance". He added that the advantages can help 'fit it' into Valve's own model for development scalability. I'm guessing this has something to do with the newly-released Intel Sandy Bridge-based tech, which is surprisingly powerful and when coded right (especially for a company like Valve) can help increase the minimum specs enormously.

Nokia's "super confidential" Sea Ray phone sneak peak
Below is a video presentation by Nokia CEO Stephen Elop in which he shows off a "super confidential" device codenamed Sea Ray. Sea Ray looks virtually identical to the just-announced Nokia N9 and now includes a dedicated camera button and altered flash for the Windows Phone 7-based handset. There's not much info on the OS itself apart from Sea Ray is running Mango, which includes multitasking, IE9 browser and deeper third-party app support with more advanced home tiles and camera support.

In the video, Elop is adamant that the presentation not get out to the "blogosphere", but how would a video of this quality not get noticed and were the people not on NDAs or anything? Staged leak? Trying to drum up hype for the new Nokia built, Windows Phone 7-based handset? We have no idea, but whatever it is, it's out and on the tubes.

ASUS MATRIX GeForce GTX 580 1536MB Platinum OC’ed Video Card Review
Introduction

Anyway, the latest company to go all out with the model is ASUS with it getting the ROG MATRIX treatment. Imagine a facial with an electric sander to make everything smooth. It's big, it's fat, it's got lots of extra buttons and it looks powerful. Today we intend to find out if it performs as good as it looks, because oh does it looks good.
We'll start off today by looking at the package ASUS has put together. Once that's done we'll take a close look at the card and see some of the features it offers us when compared to other GTX 580s. We'll then get into the specifications side of things and cover overclocking, as we'll be testing the card overclocked today.
Once we've done all that, we'll take a quick look at our testbed before we then get stuck into the performance side of things to see just what kind of power this GTX 580 is able to offer us. Before we get into the fun stuff, let us first check out this chunky looking package that resembles a ROG motherboard box more than a video card.

LaCie Announces CloudBox Secure Local+Cloud Storage Device
LaCie announced the first implementation of hybrid storage technology by combining the best of local and secure online storage - LaCie CloudBox. When you store data on the CloudBox, it is also backed up in the Cloud - ensuring your data is always safe, secure and accessible.
With the CloudBox you don't have to worry about backing up in multiple places, it has double protection built-in. The CloudBox ensures your data is backed up on a local hard drive and again in the cloud. Having double protection means you no longer have to worry about your data.

No matter where you are or what may happen to your CloudBox -damage, theft or fire - you'll always have an online copy of your files. If you want to recover everything, the CloudBox can restore your entire online backup. If you just want to restore certain files, the CloudBox's Online Restore application allows you to browse and restore selections of files and folders, up to 10 previous versions.
PLUG IT IN AND FORGET
No other product offers a one-step process for backing up your files in two places, ensuring you always have a second copy for ultimate data security. Simply backup files from your PC or Mac computer to the CloudBox - local backup ensures quick file access and restoration in case of PC failure. Then the Cloudbox automatically sends a copy of your files to the cloud, daily - ensuring your data is safe and accessible from anywhere. The best part is the CloudBox performs the online backup independently, so you are free to disconnect your notebook.
ULTIMATE DATA SECURITY
The CloudBox provides multiple levels of data security including two copies of your files and 128-bit AES data encryption. Unlike other cloud storage offerings, your files are encrypted before they are sent to the cloud - meaning no one, not even LaCie, has access to your most important files. The CloudBox ensures 100% security from data loss.
AVAILABILITY
The CloudBox is available in 100GB capacity and includes a one-year online backup contract for 100GB, which can be easily renewed. You can purchase the CloudBox through LaCie Online Store, LaCie Corner, and LaCie Reseller+ starting at $199.99. For more product information, visit this page.

Panasonic Updates Toughbook CF-C1 Feature-Set, Performance, Battery Life
Panasonic today unveiled a series of upgrades to the mk2 version of the Toughbook CF-C1, the business rugged and lightweight notebook that can be used in clamshell or tablet form. The device, which is ideal for mobile workers such as field healthcare workers, sales forces and market researchers, has been upgraded with more processing power, memory and a faster wireless module.
The Toughbook CF-C1mk2 uses the latest generation Intel Core i5-2520M (2.5GHz) for increased performance and the Intel HD 3000 graphics for enhanced multimedia capabilities. RAM memory has also been raised to 4 gigabyte with a 320 gigabyte hard disk drive as standard configuration.

To improve data transfer capability, the new generation Toughbook CF-C1 uses the Ericsson F5521gw HSPA+ module with wireless ready connection manager, significantly increasing download speeds to 21Mbps.
A 1.3 megapixel upgraded front web camera has also been added as an option for users needing to capture data or attend web conferences when away from the office.
The Panasonic Toughbook CF-C1's touch screen works comfortable in clamshell as well as in tablet mode, as its toughened triple hinge system keeps the screen rigid while the user is typing. The CF-C1 also offers up to 12 hours battery life (MobileMark 2007, 60cd/m²) with its twin hot swappable-batteries. With a single 4 cell battery installed, the unit is extremely light at just 1.49kg (and only 1.69kg with both batteries installed), and the moulded hand-free ergonomic strap lets users hold it easily in one hand while typing with the other. This makes the CF-C1 ideal for people who need to capture information in an environment where it may be difficult to put the unit down to type. Examples include field workers at the point of sales, researchers conducting customer surveys or nurses writing reports at a patient's bedside.
Practical and easy to clean
The convertible Toughbook CF-C1 features the option for a Multi-touch resistive touch screen that can be used with gloves, so it is ideally suited to healthcare workers such as nurses and doctors on visits to patients' homes. The unit also includes a rubberised, disinfectable hand-free ergonomic strap. The device has a spill-resistant keyboard and is drop-tested in operation mode from a height of up to 76cm.
"The latest upgrades to the Toughbook CF-C1 make this business-ruggedized device an even more powerful tool for the modern mobile workforce," said Stephen Yeo, Panasonic Toughbook European Marketing Director. "Its sleek good looks will appeal to people in image-conscious markets such as fashion, cosmetics and blue-chip food brands, as well as to executives wanting a robust, yet lightweight convertible notebook without compromising on performance. It's as suited to customer presentations as it is to everyday mobile computing where speed, battery power and data input flexibility is essential."
Increased management functionality
The CF-C1 also includes the new Dashboard for Panasonic PC designed to simply and conveniently customize each Toughbook to the user's preferred settings, providing a user friendly quick launch interface. The Dashboard also allows easy management of the device using helpful tools, such as the popular Panasonic Power Plan extension Utility and PC information Viewer utility.
Price and availability
The Panasonic Toughbook CF-C1mk2 will be available from July 2011. Retail price starting at 1,899 euros plus VAT.
