Overclocking phones is the next big thing :: Posted by THRASHER2
Technology advances
Just a few years back, overclocking desktop CPUs, memory, FSB (in case you still have one) and of course overclocking discrete graphics card was (is) a big thing. This trend has continued and you still have many enthusiasts who are overclocking major parts of desktop machines, but in the least year or so, people started a new trend of overclocking their phones and tablets.
ARM based processors can be overclocked and we've seen Tegra 2 overclocked from original 1GHz to 1.5GHz and in some cases people have managed to overclock native 1GHz CPUs to even more than 1.5GHz. You do need to root your phone, get a super user access, which is a sort of hacking, and you need a special kernel that supports overclocking, and there is hardly a better place to find all the necessary information that XDA developers forum, where many hard working people find a way to override built in safety nets.
These guys have found a way to overclock Motorola Xoom and they did a good job in overclocking LG Optimus 2X from default 1.0GHz to 1.5GHz. Many will like the fact that overclocking your phone brings an option of under-voltaging where you can set lower voltage and run your CPU underclock or at the same stock level, and still save a bit of your battery life.
Overclocking phones definitely is becoming a big thing and more and more enthusiasts are toying with it. After all it’s all about the highest score.

However, AMD reps did not wish to disclose any specifics to the Inq, so we can only speculate on clocks, cache sizes and power consumption. Bulldozer is on track for a Q3 launch but we still don’t have any reliable launch schedules.

Apple's iCloud could be the biggest copyright trap :: Posted by THRASHER2
The music industry will know everything about you
One of the stranger services that Apple's iCloud is offering is Music Match. For $24.99 per year, it will scan your machine and mimic all of the user’s music files onto Apple’s new data centre.
The music industry's reaction to the move was swift. It said that it effectively would legalise all the pirated copies you owned.
But as Between the Numbers points out, Apple fanboys are allowing Apple the right to scan their system and store the personally identifiable results on Apple’s servers. If you bought a dodgy MP3 and share it, Apple will know who shared their copy and whose copy is illegal and could pass this information on to the RIAA or other music watchdogs who would sue users into a coma.
Many believe that Apple wouldn't do such an evil thing because they are a force of light in a troubled world. But as Apple is one of the biggest music retailers in the world, it is not going to want to protect pirates.
It could be that Apple has compiled an all you can eat buffet of data for the RIAA.

Although production was restarted shortly after the earthquake, the distribution chain was affected and the plants will still need to recertify their chips.
