Android 3.0 Honeycomb Tablets Hit Taiwan Market

Taiwan is blessed with the latest Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablets from ASUS and Acer as they are now selling in a local PC exhibition taking place this week. These proved to be selling pretty well as the lack of Apple iPad 2 in their market spurs consumers to turn to other (better) alternatives. ASUS's Eee Pad Transformer and Acer's Iconia Tab A500 are both powered by NVIDIA Tegra 2 and Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) and sport a 10.1" screen. The 32GB version costs NT$16900 (US$583) for the Eee Pad Transformer and NT$18200 (US$628) for the Iconia Tab. If you intend to get the Eee keyboard dock, you can buy it separately for NT$3000 (US$103).

  • Elpida has developed a 4-gigabit (4Gb) DDR2 mobile RAM, which employs a 30nm process technology;
  • Microsoft's Bing app has gone live for the iPad;
  • Nokia does an about-turn with Symbian by taking down its online distributions of the mobile OS under the justification that the code is still closed-source;

Intel set to expand Sandy Bridge processor family

According to the latest leaked roadmap details we can look forward to new Sandy Bridge processors this quarter as well as in Q3 with Intel expanding the entry level tiers over the next six months or so with a range of new models. In the near future we can expect a range of Pentium branded processors while a little bit more long term we're looking at a set of new Celeron processors.

The HAWK series not only has top-notch specifications but also comes with a number of MSI-exclusive performance-enhancing features. Using the latest MSI R6870 HAWK, overclocking guru THC from the Danish ODOC team achieved a jaw-dropping GPU frequency of 1325MHz last week with the help of LN2 cooling at -180 degrees. The team was also able to break the highest AMD Radeon HD 6870 GPU scores for 3DMark 05 and 3DMark 06 with 44563 and 34471 respectively.

Skype 2.2 comes to Linux...but only as a beta

AMD to release Radeon HD 6450 for retail?

The last time we spoke about the Radeon HD 6450 graphics card, AMD had stated that this particular card will be exclusive to OEMs only, which meant that the average DIY-er desiring an entry-level, low-cost 6xxx-series graphics card from the likes of AMD were essentially cut out of the loop. Rango and Quadro: NVIDIA's professional GPUs slice render times substantially

In Rango, the new Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon animated film directed by Gore Verbinski, visual effects facility Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) was able to overcome production demands and timeline challenges with the help of NVIDIA Quadro professional graphics. Approximately 450 ILM artists located in San Francisco and Singapore worked on Rango, each on a workstation equipped with NVIDIA Quadro solutions.
