TechwareLabs Article: Building Computers for the Weekend Geek @ PCSTATS
"Overclocking the ASUS HD 6970 wasn't the easiest thing in the world to do, but it wasn't all that hard either. I first started out using ASUS Smart Doctor, however, whenever I tried to push the core clock past 940MHz, Smart Doctor would automatically reset it. After I encountered this problem I decided to switch over to MSI's Afterburner. After increasing the overclocking range in Afterburner's config file, I was able to continue overclocking the ASUS HD 6970's core past 940Mhz. That being said, I encountered another problem. MSI's Afterburner would not allow me to adjust the card's voltage. I eventually decided to use Afterburner anyway and ended up with a core clock of 986Mhz. This was about 100Mhz above the factory clock speed, so I was OK with it. I got a lot nicer overclock out of the memory, which ended up clocking in at 1502Mhz." ... [OVERCLOCKERSCLUB] via PCSTATS

Kingston HyperX Genesis 4GB 2133MHz DDR3 Memory Kit @ PCSTATS
The face of personal computing is constantly changing and evolving. There are more terms out there than ever before, which makes it harder and harder to keep everything straight. Is the i7 really better than the i5? Why are some computer packages so much cheaper than others? Is that barebones computer for $300 really worth it? What should I really look for when I look at the details of a آ“PC Bargainآ”? What does all of that stuff DO anyway?? Iآ’ll try to answer some of those questions, and in such a way that even the Weekend Geek (if there is such a thing) wonآ’t walk away scratching their heads. ... [TECHWARELABS] via PCSTATS

G.Skill Sniper SR2 8GB Kit Review @ PCSTATS
"Back in 2008, Corsair launched the TX series of power supplies. It was an instant success and a power supply that many still love today. It provided plenty of power for gamers and enthusiasts and did so without breaking the bank. The TX series also offered great connector availability and longer cables for those with larger cases and those that routed cables to keep them from being seen. Corsair has been updating several of their power supply series and the TX series is the latest in the line of refreshments. Fast forward to today and we now have the Corsair TX Version 2. The specific power supply on the bench right now is the Corsair TX850V2. On the surface, the TX850V2 differs little from its predecessor. Connector availability remains the same and if it wasn't for the sticker denoting it as a TX850V2 instead of a TX850W, you probably wouldn't know they were different. Corsair took a good look at the internals and decided to make some changes there, bringing with it improved efficiency and higher quality DC output. Intel Future SSD Models Leaked @ PCSTATS
"Last year we reviewed the Thecus N4200 just days after its release. The N4200 is still to this day the only consumer NAS that offers dual status display screens, but more importantly, the only consumer NAS to include a battery backup system. When Thecus first marketed their N4200 a lot of emphasis was placed on the new dual display feature, but we felt that the battery backup feature was the real standout feature. In an enterprise environment power is regulated to a degree unseen in our homes. Businesses regularly spend a portion of their budget on keeping clean, consistent power flowing to their servers. In our home power fluctuates and in many places across the country you can expect at least one power outage a year. Here in the Midwest where I'm at you can expect several brief outages in winter as ice builds on power lines and trees, and again in the spring when severe storms disrupt the flow. One of the easiest ways to take out a hard drive is to remove power abruptly without a proper shut down sequence." ... [TWEAKTOWN] via PCSTATS

Intel 310 80GB MiniPCIe SSD COMPLETE @ PCSTATS
'My SSD Is Faster than Your HDD' just doesn't seem to fit the part when we are speaking of the OCZ RevoDrive x2 PCIe SSD. Anytime you consider a product that is controlled by four (4) SandForce SF-1200 series controllers, prepare to be amazed. The RevoDrive x2 should knock your socks off with advertised specs of 740MB/s read and 690MB/s write and 4k random write of 100, 000 IOPS. A few weeks back we had the opportunity to take the OCZ RevoDrive 120GB PCIe for a ride and were so impressed that we asked OCZ just how much better the RevoDrive x2 would be in PCMark Vantage testing. As the Vantage HDD Suite consists of 8 scenarios that simulate common user activities, our opinion is that this software is simply the best testing environment for any solid state drive. The Revo did so well, in fact, that it easily surpassed benchmarks that we had done with RAIDED SSDs just prior to that evaluation. Our curiosity was in the thought that, sooner or later, performance increase just had to reach a plateau....or so we thought. ... [THESSDREVIEW] via PCSTATS

TRENDnet TEW-687GA 450Mbps Wireless N Gaming Adapter Review @ PCSTATS
Our featured picture does a great job of portraying how truly small Intels new 310 Series 80GB SSD really is. It offers the punch of the X-25m in 1/8th of the size and Intel is gambling that this is going to add a whole new dimension to notebook configurations. First up to bat with the 310 will be new Lenovo Thinkpads destined for market in 2011 but don't think other oems aren't far behind. The 310 series SSD started shipping in units of 1000 to oems in December with prices at $99 (40GB) and $179 (80GB) per and don't be surprised to see a healthy premium on these new notebooks when combined with a hard drive. Its a combination that may be the best push forward in bringing the SSD into mainstream sales as now anyone can have the power of the SSD with the storage of a hard drive in a factory purchased laptop. ...
