The Ten Fastest-Dying Industries in America
Although this article is called the "Ten Fastest-Dying Industries in America," it could easily be called the "ten fastest industries killed by technology." Personally, I think newspapers, DVD-game-video rental, video postproduction services, record stores and film developing are simply evolving not "dying." If I asked you to name America's least fortunate industry, your mind might go to records stores, obliterated by on-demand apps; or photofinishers, left in the cold as digital cameras turn Americans into our own photo editors; or fabric makers, where business is booming ... in Shenzhen, China. Anonymous Targets Sony
Anonymous has launched a campaign against Sony in retaliation for the legal action they took against George Hotz and Alexander Egorenkov. As you'd expect from the group, its statements are neither polite nor subtle. It says Sony has "abused the judicial system in an attempt to censor information about how your products work", "victimized [its] own customers merely for possessing and sharing information" and of violating "the privacy of thousands of innocent people who only sought the free distribution of information". Sapphire HD 6950 Flex Edition
The Sapphire HD 6950 Flex Edition has been reviewed by the gang at Overclockers Club today. It seems the only complaints the OCC crew had about the card is a "slight louder" fan than previous versions and that's about it. The Sapphire HD 6950 FleX is equipped with one of Sapphire's Vapor Chamber cooling solutions that does a great job of reducing the GPU core temperature to manageable levels. During the baseline and overclocked testing, the HD 6950 FleX kept the temperature at 60 degrees Celsius. During the baseline testing, the fan is automatically controlled to keep the noise signature in check and maximize cooling when needed. Comments

Tenenbaum v. Music Industry: The Copyright Wars Continue
On April 4th, the First Circuit will hear oral argument on the appeals of Joel Tenenbaum, the Recording Industry Association of America, and the U.S. Department of Justice. All three parties appealed after the trial judge reduced a $675,000 jury verdict for sharing 30 songs down to $67,500. The only issues remaining on appeal regard the propriety of such an award for the conduct. Represented by Harvard Law professor Charles Nesson and student Jason Harrow, Tenenbaum will argue that the copyright statute, is being misinterpreted and misapplied and runs afoul of the Constitution. First, the statute was never meant to cover consumer copiers and never has until the present litigation campaign. Second, Due Process will not tolerate an award that departs so egregiously and arbitrarily from any reasonable assessment of the harm actually caused by Tenenbaum. Third, the process by which the jury arrived at the award was replete with error. Comments

Another Teacher Suspended over Facebook Comments
Another day, another inappropriate Facebook comment, and another teacher suspended. The future of education, specifically due to the educators themselves, is in doubt if the teachers can't figure out people actually read Facebookآ…. especially teacher's comments. Still, teachers --- and others --- need to remember that posting on the Internet means anyone can read it. What happens in Las Vegas may stay in Las Vegas, but what's put on the Internet, doesn't necessarily stay there. Comments
