Acer Prepares Aspire One 722 11.6" Fusion-based Netbook
Acer is preparing an updated version of its Aspire One 522 netbook, dubbed the Aspire One 722, or AO722. The AO722 brings a few updates, most notably a 1366x768 11.6" display, a larger battery offering up to 7 hours of use and one extra speaker. Apart from those changes, the AO722 is essentially the same on the inside as the AO522, featuring a 1GHz AMD C-50 dual-core APU and Radeon HD 6250 graphics. The netbook will also have a water drop design similar to the AOD257. Windows 7 Starter will be the OS of choice. I'd expect to hear more details regarding the Aspire One 722 in the coming weeks.

Gears Of War 3 Beta Released
With a game being so high rated over the years as Gears Of War, it comes to no surprise that many consumers are jumping on board to get to play the game early. Officially the beta opens up to the public a week from today, if Gears Of War 3 was pre-ordered through Gamestop only. However, customers who bought Bulletstorm, the Epic edition, now have access to the beta as of today and can join the community in testing the next installment in the series. New enemies, betters graphics and gameplay, as well as an improved interface are all brand new parts of the game that early adopters will be able to enjoy depending on what recent game purchase they made. Though some aspects will obviously change, it is obvious how gamers that own a Xbox 360 will be running to join in on the beta fun once their friends take delight in it.

Apple Suing Samsung For Copying iPhone
Apple has reportedly filed a lawsuit against Samsung for infringing on technology developed by Apple. The products in question include the iPhone and iPad. Apple is claiming that Samsung copied the "look and feel" of its devices for the Galaxy S 4G, Epic 4G, and Galaxy Tab. It is unlikely that any judgment will be handed down, and is more likely that an exchange of money will occur between the two companies. Also of significance is that the user interface present on the Samsung devices is based mostly on the default Android configuration. This amounts to little more than another stab at Android by Apple.

MSI Launches Two New Laptops Powered by an Intel Core i3 Processor
MSI has been launching latops at a fairly consistent basis all month, and today the company brings two new ones to the table powered by Intel Core i3 processors. The two laptops are the CX640 and CR640, both 15.6" models, and each offer similar specs. There is an Intel Core i3-2310M processor, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a 500GB hard drive, and even two USB 3.0 ports. The hard drive is being more protected in these new laptops since MSI moved the placement of it to the middle and surrounding it with a unique housing to protect it from occasional drops. MSI's TimeStamp technology shows up on the laptops which provides one-touch back up and restore in case of a virus or system crash. The big difference between the two is that the CR640, the black laptop, has integrated Intel HD 3000 graphics while the CX640, the silver one, makes do with an NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M and Optimus technology.
The MSI CX640 and CR640 laptops should be available soon. The CR640 will cost you $630 while the CX640 is at $680.

Apple's 5th Generation iOS Finally Gets Flash... Sort Of
The iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touches are very powerful devices, though Apple has withheld a key feature which should be mandatory on any web enabled device. I'm of course referring to Adobe's Flash Player, the medium which over 90% of Internet capable machines utilize. With the new upcoming iOS5, Flash will not run natively but will be able to stream Flash related content through Apple's up-to-date HTML5 browser. Unfortunately Flash based games and advertisements will not yet be supported but the majority of Flash videos are HTML5 compatible so the devices will still be far better off. Whether Apple's later versions of iOS will support full blown Flash is unclear, but it is great to know that steps are at least being taken to prevent users of these devices from missing out on the full Internet experience.

Internet Poker Sites Shutdown
Many have heard of the online gambling sites such as FullTiltPoker, Pokerstars, and AbsolutePoker. Now you can no longer visit those sites, all have been shut down, and the founders arrested on charges of bank fraud, money laundering, and online gambling. They have been accused of breaking a 2006 U.S. law that prohibits financial institutions from handling transactions for online gambling sites. The sites have gotten away with online gambling for so long by tricking banks and credit card companies into processing what seemed to be legitimate sales. So far 76 bank accounts and five website domain names have been shut down due to the illegal gambling. If you try to visit any of the gambling websites you'll be greeted by a notice from the FBI stating the domain name has been seized. This may be the start to a crackdown on illegal sites.

Philips Sells HDTV Business to TPV Technology
Philips has been in the television business for over eighty years and has a pretty storied history in that department. Today, however, all of that is coming to a close as Philips is selling its HDTV business to TPV Technology, a Hong Kong-based company. Philips will sell the majority stake to TPV while Philips will retain 30% ownership and get €50 million in royalty payments starting in 2013. Overall it is a pretty good deal for Philips who was down €137 million for the first quarter of this year. All 4,000 employees working in the HDTV division at Philips will be transfered to TPV, though Philips is adamant that it doesn't want the market to think it is laying off everyone. I am sure some layoffs will happen, but most of the 4,000 employees should be safe. Philips has a new CEO and it is definitely looking like he wants a change of direction for the company.
