BMC buys app performance vendor Coradiant
BMC has purchased Coradiant, maker of software for improving end-user experience and tracking Web application performance, the company said Thursday. Terms were not disclosed. The deal will give BMC "the industry's most comprehensive solution for anticipating and proactively addressing the end-user experience requirements of our customers' businesses," said Paul Avenant, senior vice president, ESM solutions and brand management, in a statement.

Google patches 27 Chrome bugs, pays out record bounties
Google today patched 27 vulnerabilities in Chrome as it boosted the "stable" build of the browser to version 11 on Windows, Mac, and Linux. Is Oracle hedging its vulnerability reports?
Oracle may be subtly misleading customers about the severity of some of the vulnerabilities found in its database software, according to researchers from database security software provider Application Security (AppSec). "Oracle likes to downplay the risk of its vulnerabilities," said Alex Rothacker, director of security research for AppSec. As a result, organizations using Oracle's vulnerability ratings to prioritize system updates may unduly delay applying some critical patches, he said.
