NVIDIA GeForce GTX 590 delayed until March 24? NVIDIA use the tears of fanboys to play AMD drinking games
Rumor has it that NVIDIA has delayed the launch of their dual-GPU GeForce GTX 590 until March 24, a two day delay on the previous release schedule of March 22. I don't know if it's just me, but I've checked my Steam purchase of Crysis 2 today and noticed before posting this news that Crysis 2 will not unlock until March 24.
Coincidence? I don't know. But NVIDIA have seemingly delayed the GTX 590 for two days while using this time to collect the tears of fanboys into a few bottles and play AMD drinking games with them. Every time they read an article or piece of news that says "AMD" or "Radeon", they take a shot of your tears. Boom.

Battlefield 3 gameplay trailer: Good Effect on Target shows off insane graphics and environmental destruction
Another two minutes of in-game footage from the single player campaign of Battlefield 3 has hit the tubes of the internet. The footage shows a squad of US Marines on a rooftop moving from cover to cover trying to escape rounds being fired from a Sniper on a building opposite them.
The footage shows off the prone movement (yay!) and the extreme attention to detail the graphics provide to the realism of the Battlefield 3 world. The destruction is once again shown off with a soldier (from the players point-of-view) firing a rocket into the building, eliminating the sniper. I'm more pumped for this game than anything else in 2011.

Sony Implements Direct Donation In PlayStation Store
An hour ago, Sony announced they were joining the relief effort in Japan through a direct contribution interface within their PlayStation Network.
PSN users can find the donation page under "Aid Japan", listed under New Releases on the PlayStation Store. For your donation in the amount of $2, $5, $10, $25, or $50, Sony is offering a free PlayStation 3 Theme (around $3 value). All of the donations go directly to the Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami fund via the American Red Cross.
With a multitude of ways to get involved, there is no reason you shouldn't take advantage of at least one of them.

EA Modifies In-Game Transactions to Aid Japan
Electronic Arts announced yesterday that they would be pitching in to the relief effort in a very big way. '
All of our compassion goes out to the people of Japan during this incredibly challenging time, and EA is mobilizing to support people living through this incredibly devastating situation.
EA claims they have modified in-game transactions allow users to connect directly to fundraising and contribution efforts for Japan. Though they weren't specific on which games, the post mentioned Battlefield Heroes, Playfish, Pogo, The Sims, Ultima Online and Fifa Ultimate Team as games that were developing fundraising solutions.
This seems to imply that players making in-game transactions will, instead of paying EA, will contribute to the Japan relief effort, and still net their virtual good. In exchange for contributing directly to Japan, EA will double the value of whatever item/good/benefit the player purchase and match the donation (up to $50k) to the American Red Cross.
Gamers, any way that you can get involved is great, but when gaming companies like Capcom, SEGA, and EA make it incredibly easy and reward you for your efforts, why would you not get involved?

AMD Radeon HD 6990 4GB Video Card AUSUM Mode in CrossFireX
Introduction
We've seen CrossFire really blossom since the launch of the HD 6000 series with just some insane performance gains being seen from these new single GPU cards. When throwing in a second card we're seeing gains that sometimes equate to almost double the performance. Considering that you can't really expect any more than that, it's really amazing to see AMD really put huge amounts of effort into the improvement of this technology.
Moving to more than two GPUs has never yielded the same performance increases. The HD 5970 as good as a card it was, when you went down the path of two the performance was really quite uneventful. Sure, there were pieces of shining light here and there, but on a whole it was a tough recommendation to go down the four GPU path.
So with all these performance improvements with the latest generation of cards from AMD, how does that translate with the new dual GPU beast from AMD which when in CrossFireX carries with it four GPUs?
With the help of our second HD 6990 from AMD we're going to find out exactly what's going on today. Because it's a reference card, we'll just have a quick look at the card itself as there's no package. Then we'll just quickly run over the specifications.
The Card
Of course, you're not really seeing anything here that you didn't see from the Sapphire version with the fan in the middle of the card blowing onto two Vapor Chamber coolers. The card is powered by two 8-Pin PCI-E power connectors and we've got our single CrossFire connector and BIOS switch that enables "AUSUM" mode. Connectivity comes in the form of four mini DisplayPort connectors and a single Dual-Link DVI.
Specifications
Because our time with this HD 6990 is quite limited and it really has to do the rounds, we thought we'd just crank the card into AUSUM mode which means our core comes in at 880MHz instead of 830MHz which you can see below.
As for the 4GB of RAM, that comes in at 5GHz and the most important piece of information here is the CrossFire tab which shows us that the technology is indeed enabled, and in this case is running 4 GPUs.
