LEPA Readies New Mainstream PSU Lines for Gamers and System Integrators
Ecomaster is readying new LEPA-branded power supply units (PSUs), targeting mainstream system integrators and gamers. LEPA's new products are branched into N-series, targeting system integrators, and W-series, targeting gaming PCs. Both lines consist of non-modular PSUs that are compliant with the latest PSU standards, including EU ErP Lot 6 2010 standby power draw requirements.

Starting at آ€34.90, the N-series includes 400W, 500W, and 600W models. The N-series boxes feature active PFC, a single 12V rail design; Over Power, Over Voltage, Over Current, Short-Circuit, and Brown Out protection mechanisms; and are cooled by a 120 mm PWM-controlled fan. The W-series, on the other hand, starts at آ€59.90, and includes 450W, 500W, and 600W models with higher-grade components, are 80 Plus (std.) compliant, single 12V rail design, and all the protective mechanisms available with the N-series.

Sharkoon Intros QuickStore Portable Pro 2.5-inch SATA Drive Enclosure
Sharkoon introduced its latest 2.5-inch portable drive enclosure, the QuickStore Portable Pro. Available in USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 (which also supports USB 2.0) variants, the enclosures can house hard drives and solid state drives in the 2.5-inch SATA form-factor, with SATA 3 Gb/s interface. Apart from more common 9.5 mm thick HDDs/SSDs, the enclosure also has room for 12.5 mm thick drives (the 10 mm thick WD VelociRaptor should fit). Measuring 134 x 82 x 18.5 mm (L x W x H), it weighs around 80 g (minus drive). Installation is completely tool-free. A one-touch backup feature works with the bundled backup software. The USB 2.0 variant is priced at around 10 EUR, while the USB 3.0 variant is around 17 EUR.

AMD today announced that leading original design manufacturers (ODMs) are choosing AMD's 2011 low-power platform for a new generation of PC designs ranging from ultrathin notebooks to all-in-one desktops. Nearly two dozen unique ODM whitebook and high definition PC (HDPC) designs based on the AMD C- and E-Series Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) are expected to be available for distribution and purchase in the first half of the year.
