Hardware Roundup: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Edition
Not everyone needs, or can afford, a top end video card like the AMD Radeon HD 6990 released last week. NVIDIA realizes that the mainstream market is where the bulk of the video card sales are. In recognition of this fact, NVIDIA has released the GeForce GTX 550 card at the $160 price point that places it squarely in the middle of the pack. Briefly, the card has 192 CUDA cores with a core clock speed of 900MHz and a shader clock of 1800MHz. The 1024MB GDDR5 memory comes in at a reference clock of 4104 MHz on a 192-bit memory bus. NVIDIA's partners have already released overclocked versions that come with non-reference cooling solutions. OCC is here with reviews on both the ASUS GTX550 Ti DirectCU TOP and MSI N550GTX Ti 1GB cards.

NVIDIA 3D Vision Wireless Glasses Kit Updated - Cheaper, Longer Life
NVIDIA has long had a 3D Vision kit for sale which lets you experience 3D content on your computer with a 120Hz monitor and a GeForce GPU. For many, that kit was just a little out of their price range since it launched at $199 for the wireless glasses kit. Now though, NVIDIA is reducing the price of the wireless glasses kit down to $149 which should make it more affordable for many. The kit contains a pair of wireless glasses, a wireless IR emitter, cables, and the neccessary software to get your 3D experience up and running. NVIDIA has also reduced the price of an extra pair of glasses to $119. The glasses themselves have been updated to provide for a longer battery life since it should now last for 60 hours instead of 40. That means you have a longer time to game or watch movies in 3D before needing to recharge the glasses.
