The Ultimate Graphics Cards Round-up: Spring 2011
If you were attentive during the past few months, you’re bound to have noticed just how many new graphics card models have been presented in the past few months. To say that the market situation is confusing would be an understatement, since not only have there been plenty of new models making their appearance on the market, but an entire graphics card generation has shifted. Besides, NVIDIA seems to have made a full recovery and got back into the game as an entirely respectable competitor. All this has caused their competition to react more often, with both presenting improved models and decreasing prices of the existing ones. In situations such as these, even a well-versed buyer can feel as if in a washing machine, completely disoriented, and after you’ve tried to finally opt for one thing, you don’t even know how you got to that choice in the first place. The main problem is the amount of time that passes between two model launches. Simply, you have to keep an eye on the situation at all times in order to remain up-to-date on the latest info, and the situation is prone to changing even when no new models have appeared. Driver, price and configuration changes, factory-overclocked cards etc. are among many factors that can and should impact your final call. In order to eliminate all these, we thought a major roundup was in order. Therefore, consider this review the ultimate showdown in order to enable you to make a clear, streamlined choice and buy the best bargain out there. We took eleven graphics cards, and the idea was fairly simple - cover as much ground as possible as far as current models go.

Piracy should be fought with lower prices, says research group
A group of researchers has released a report, labeled the Media Piracy Project (http://piracy.ssrc.org/the-report/), that describes the prevalence of content piracy in emerging economies as a problem of inflexible pricing rather than enforcement. The researchers have focused on the cost of software, movies and albums relative to the average wages in various countries. As an example of the pricing disparity, the group points to legally distributed copies of the movie The Dark Knight. The film sells legally in the US and Russia for approximately $15; when the price is adjusted to reflect the average wages in Russia, however, it actually equates to the US equivalent of $75.

Samsung teases Galaxy Tab 8.9 again
Samsung teased the Galaxy Tab 8.9 yet again with another video (which can be seen here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPmHomARu84)) that might have given clues as to the software side. After some pretext, the clip very briefly shows off the front of the tablet with a dim but visible screen. It shows what could be either a custom news and weather app or else home screen widgets; they superficially resemble some of the screen-filling widgets from the Galaxy S II.
