
AMD launches Radeon HD 6990
After a three-month delay, AMD's Radeon HD 6000 series flagship, the Radeon HD 6990, has finally arrived. Codenamed Antilles, this long powerhouse features two Cayman GPUs running at 830MHz, a total of 3072 Stream Processors, a 2 x 256-bit memory interface, and 4GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 5000 MHz. There's also a CrossFireX connector which enables quad-GPU setups, while the backplate gives one DVI and four mini DisplayPort outputs, allowing control over up to five monitors via the Eyefinity technology. For those who wants more performance but still want to play safe, a secondary BIOS can take the GPU clock up to 880 MHz.

Samsung announces Galaxy Pro with QWERTY keyboard
Samsung has revealed a new Galaxy series Android smartphone, a mid-range model called Galaxy Pro which has the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system and features both a 2.8-inch touchscreen, backed by the TouchWiz UI, and a QWERTY keyboard for faster typing.

Western Digital to buy Hitachi's storage division
World's number one hard drive maker Western Digital is set to extend its lead over arch-rival Seagate, having announced today that it will be buying Hitachi Global Storage Technologies in a deal worth about $4.3 billion. As part of the agreement signed by Hitachi and Western Digital, the latter will shell out $3.5 billion in cash and 25 million WD common shares valued at $750 million, to secure the services of Hitachi GST. Following this transaction, Hitachi will have a 10% stake in Western Digital and will name two representatives to the WD board of directors.
