Privacy Lawsuits Rain Down on Netflix
Five privacy lawsuits in the past two months? Yikes. Netflix has been accused of violating U.S. privacy laws in five separate lawsuits filed in the past two months, records show. The five plaintiffs allege in their complaints that Netflix hangs onto customer information, such as credit card numbers and rental histories, for people who cancel their membership. They claim this violates the Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA). Comments

Pirate Bay User Database Compromised and Exploited, Again
This is an outrage! It is absolutely unbelievable that you can't trust your personal info to the place you get all your links to illegal downloads. What is this world coming to? In recent weeks many Pirate Bay users have received an email, allegedly sent by The Pirate Bay team, encouraging them to download a course on how to make money from the site. The email is clearly sent by spammers, but since this is not the first time the Pirate Bay user database has been exploited, users are starting to worry how it's possible that their personal info is leaking out again. Google Fixed Flash Exploit in Chrome
It looks like Google got tired of waiting for Adobe to fix Flash and decided to do it themselves. While that is good news for Chrome, Firefox and IE users have to wait for the official patch. Google has fixed a critical Adobe Flash Player bug that is being exploited in the wild - but only for its own Chrome browser. Users of Flash Player in other browsers will have to wait for Adobe's official patch, which will require testing against around 60 platforms and configurations. Comments

France Fines Google for Street View Privacy Breach
France has fined Google $141,000 for improperly gathering personal data from Wi-Fi networks. This case has been dragged out for over a year, the country spent untold amounts of money fighting this, only to fine the search giant $141k? Heh, that\'ll show em\'. Monday\'s euro100,000 ($141,300) fine sanctions Google for collecting personal data آ— including e-mails, web browsing histories and online banking details آ— from 2007 to 2010 through its roaming camera-mounted cars and bicycles. The Chinese government is interfering with Gmail functions as part of a crackdown on the 'Jasmine revolution' according to Google sources. The latest disruption was with the application to help friends and family find relatives lost in the Japanese earthquake disaster. "Relating to Google there is no issue on our side. Google's $10K Employee Startup Referral Program
There is little wonder why Google is consistently rated as one of the best places to work, hands down. Google instituted a new Startup Referral Program for their employees to encourage them to sponsor unknown programs for funding. If the suggestion is accepted, the employee is $10K richer. Simple as that. There are more programs coming to help Google Ventures get deal flow, says Maris. In the near future they'll announce more "unique, haven't-been-tried-before, outside of the box type ideas that will apply to people who aren't Google employees, too. Comments
