Broadband Could Lead to Digital Ghettos
Okay, so maybe we don't have to worry about the coming search apocalypse (see previous news post) the real problem now is broadband leading to digital ghettos!!!! Blame SgtStabStabs for the link. FASTER broadband services could actually make ethnic communities more insular by creating "digital ghettos", SBS has warned. Staving Off the Search War Apocalypse
Forget about the horrible economy, the all-time high foreclosure rate, the high unemployment rate and skyrocketing gas prices...what we all need to focus on right now is the coming search war apocalypse. The battle isn't for the hearts and minds of the public; It is for the heart and soul of the internet آ— a battle to put "content farms" in their place and suffocate sites which, due to creative SEO, somehow manage to appear higher in search results than the original sites whose content they are re-blogging or flat-out stealing. Text Messages to Replace Stamps in Sweden
In Sweden, you can now pay for postage by sending a text the post office and they will text you back a code to write on the outside of the envelope. We have a similar system in the U.S., we just text the person we were going to write a letter to. The Swedish postal service plans to give customers' tongues a rest by allowing them to pay their postage via mobile phone text message instead of stamps. A similar system is set for launch in Denmark on April 1st allowing users to send a text message, prompting a special code to be sent back. The code is then written down on the letter and serves as proof of the postage having been paid. Comments

If you are a Radeon owner planning on installing Ubuntu 11.04, you'll definitely want to read this. As you can see, if you are an open-source ATI Radeon user, there is a lot to be excited for in Ubuntu 11.04, particularly if you are a Radeon HD 2000/3000/4000/5000 series customer.
