Is Left 4 Dead Getting Ripped Off?
Today must be "idea theft day" and no one told me. This is the second news story about someone ripping off someone else's idea and it isn't even lunch time yet. The demo for Yakuza: Of The End shows some of the zombies that appear in the game. They seem to be either homages or very blatant rip-offs of the Left 4 Dead zombies. In the Yakuza game, there's a L4D-type "Boomer" zombie called "Metabo" (referring to metabolic syndrome), a L4D-type "Tank" zombie called "Dekamacho" (big macho) and a L4D-type "Witch" zombie called "Nakionna" (crying lady). The Witch zombie continues crying when she appears, until she's disturbed. Comments

Lenovo Thinkpad U260 Core i3 12.5-in Notebook
PC Perspective says the Lenovo Thinkpad U260 Core i3 12.5" notebook is "beautiful, exquisitely constructed and great to use" but its battery life is lacking. Here's a quote: This is a conclusion I also came to when reviewing the T410s, which suffered from the same drawbacks as the U260. If Lenovo can figure out how to squeeze larger batteries into these slim and light laptops, it will have some class-leading products on its hands. For now, however, the U260 is a bit of a fashion statement. It's beautiful, exquisitely constructed, and great to use – but lacking the expected endurance." Comments

Apple Copycats Another Company's Case?
About a dozen people have sent me links to this article that basically shows that Apple totally copied the design for its new smart cover from someone else. I'm no expert but I can definitely see where the InCase people might have a case (pun intended) against Apple. Lawsuit in 3...2...1. Thing is, we've seen the design before. Oh sure, Apple improved upon it significantly, but there's no mistaking its InCase Convertible Magazine Jacket heritage. See the two slug it out on video after the break in some kind of weird reverse KIRF cage match. Comments

ECS H67H2-M Black Edition
The crew at Legit Reviews has just posted a review of the ECS H67H2-M Black Edition. Overall they seem very impressed with this motherboard, here's a quote from the full review: The ECS H67H2-M Black Deluxe motherboard is a very solid board all the way through. Its performance rivaled that of the Intel P67 Burrage motherboard and at times outperformed it. We expected performance to suffer a bit while the on-board graphics were being used but that was not the case. Intel and ECS have done a brilliant job of sorting out the usability of this system. Best Buy Pulls Free Corset From 'Burlesque' Blu-Ray Deal
Damn, where am I supposed to get my free corset now? Props to [H] forum reader "mentok1982" for submitting this story. Best Buy had a neat package deal for customers who want a Blu-Ray copy of the movie "Burlesque." For $20, shoppers would get both the movie and a free corset of questionable quality. The corset was exclusive to Best Buy: but not for very long, because stores were ordered to pull the corsets before the item went on sale. Comments

19% Admit Web Use While Driving
A new study says that almost 20% of you guys are reading this news post while driving. Don't laugh, there is a 1-in-5 chance I am posting this while driving too...and you guys know how I drive. "That 19% might be underestimating the actual use of smartphones to access the Internet while driving, because the majority of the respondents were in the age range of the 30s," says Cindy Garretson, director of auto technology research at State Farm. "The largest users of cellphones tend to be the younger-age population. We would be very interested to know what that number would be if the focus was on the young adult market." Comments
