Corsair Force Series F90 Solid State Drive @ PCSTATS
With the release of the HD6950 and HD6970, it is easy to forget the mid-range GPUs that AMD released earlier in October 2010: the HD6850 and the HD6870. However, most buyers don't want the fastest or the best, so these two GPUs target a very lucrative sector of the market where a good price versus performance ratio is important. Today we are taking a look at the PowerColor PCS+ HD6870 1GB GDDR5 (CALL OF DUTY EDITION). Behind this rather long name is a factory overclocked HD6870 GPU with a custom cooler that not only claims it can cool the card 15% better than a stock cooler, but also stay quiet doing it. The version we are reviewing also comes with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.... [HD6870] via PCSTATS

Telus Mobility - Charging you $2 a month, to bill you @ PCSTATS
"A few months ago we told you about solid state drive manufacturers playing with the number of channels and flash modules on SandForce SF-1200 controllers to achieve new capacity variations. The first round of products with the new configurations were 40GB drives. Corsair has a new configuration that increases the capacity to 90GB and also retains the high IOPS programming that keeps transactions rates high. More importantly for users shopping by budget, the new Corsair F90 ducks under the 200 USD barrier. This is an important place to have a product since the 40GB model is too small for most users, even those looking for a high speed SSD on a budget, and the 100GB drive is still over 200 USD. I'll let you decide your budget, but getting a large amount of premium SandForce storage for less than 200 Dollars looks like a sweet spot to me."... [TWEAKTOWN] via PCSTATS

Noctua NH-C14 @ PCSTATS

Only a cellphone company would have the nerve to charge its customers an extra $2 a month, just to send its customers the phone bill. In November 2010 Telus Mobility began charging Canadian customers a $2/month "Summary Paper Bill Fee". Talk about nickel and dime service fees... on top of this new paper bill fee there's the so called 'CRTC fee' which is now legally called "System Access Fee" at $6.95/month, and then there is the "Enhanced 911 Access Charge" at $0.50/month. These extra fees are in addition to the regular service plan, data and messaging costs.
It's enough to make one seriously consider cancelling phone services with Telus Mobility and switching over to Virgin, Bell, Wind, Rogers or maybe even carrier pigeon.

(...)... [CONTENT] via PCSTATS

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti - Titanium is Back @ PCSTATS
"As we roll into another year and the first month comes to a close, it comes as no surprise that we begin to see a new iteration of the Catalyst driver suite. As you would've guessed, we're dealing now with the 11 series driver and being both the first one and the January one, the exact name is the 11.1 driver. This has been a little weird this time around, as AMD actually released a hot fix version of the driver before the official WHQL one. This is something we're seeing more and more from them and it will be interesting if over time we continue to see "monthly" WHQL drivers, instead of just "monthly" driver updates. The thing is, over the recent months we've seen the official WHQL driver come followed by a bunch of non WHQL hot fix versions. We know the WHQL process takes time, and we would assume it also costs money, so it will be interesting to see if anything changes in 2011."... [TWEAKTOWN] via PCSTATS

Continuing our series of Guides for HTPC and Home Theater, this guide offers ten basic tips for getting your HTPC up and running smoothly. Most of these were learned the hard way, hope that sharing means you don't have to...Recording and scanning big TV files for commercials hits a drive really hard. Having at least two physical drives separates the bandwidth necessary to keep the user interface (UI) responsive and minimize the risk for glitches during recording and playback. After adding up all the traffic caused by Media Center recording and ShowAnalyzer reading back and forth in the file while you try to watch it (all potentially multiplied by the number of tuners); then add in a couple “extenders” - you’ll be glad you put the operating system (OS) on one disk and recordings on another.... How to Enable Concurrent Sessions in Windows 7 Service Pack 1 RTM @ PCSTATS
I just got off a conference call with Intel and it looks like they got a mess on their hands right now. Intel had a design oversight with one of the metal layers of their 6 series chipset, so they need a re-spin of the silicon to fix the issue. This issue is on all 'Cougar Town' 6 series chipsets and Intel said that slightly less than 8 million of these chipsets have already been made. All of those chipsets have Serial-ATA (SATA) ports within the chipsets that may degrade over time, potentially impacting the performance or functionality of SATA-linked devices such as hard disk drives and DVD-drives...... For those unaware of what it is, enabling Concurrent Sessions allows you to Remote Desktop into a system that someone else is on, under a different user account, and access the system without kicking the user off. I, for example, use the feature to have MCE running on my Television, and then I remote into my main user account to access all my files without interrupting my MCE session. ASUS P8H67-M EVO Socket 1155 Motherboard @ PCSTATS
"Intel is telling us they have completely stopped shipping the affected chipset and already begun production of the revised and fixed version of the 6-series chipsets. But shipping of those chipsets won't start until late February and full "inventory replacement" won't happen until sometime in April. Intel has committed to working with partners to help facilitate the recall of affected products once production is in full swing, but this isn't something easy to do. You can't just replace a hard drive or memory module here - full motherboard replacement is going to be required on desktop and notebook platforms - a costly error indeed. The company has declared a $700M write off estimate for this cause.""In some cases, the Serial-ATA (SATA) ports within the chipsets may degrade over time, potentially impacting the performance or functionality of SATA-linked devices such as hard disk drives and DVD-drives. "
"The error and source of degradation is in the silicon itself - not a driver or software or firmware error at all. In some cases Intel has seen silicon degradation in the section of the 6-series chipsets where SATA communication occurs. "... [PCPER] via PCSTATS

"Taking a complete departure from the type of cases that TweakTown typically brings its readers, I had a server chassis delivered to my door. With my more basic needs around the house, I typically just use my main rig for any "server" type applications I need, but there are those around who have the need and desire to house a full out server system at their own home. Whether trying to initiate and host your own website, or even for those in the business world that custom build servers for work, you may be very interested to see what we are about to show. So grab yourself a beverage and settle in. When I think IN WIN, I think back to what I have seen myself, and typically there are bright flashes of color and very unique looking concepts fronting their chassis lineup. With this chassis, that simply isn't what you are going to find. This is a very subdued and simplistic exterior. The main reason is the designing of the interior is where all the effort goes.
