Picasa Web Albums Expands Storage
Google seems to expand its storage on a frequent basis, with Gmail being the obvious service to continue the trend. Now, Picasa Web Albums is following suite by offering current and new users unlimited storage for small images along with videos that fit into a certain criteria. The catch however is that the pictures must be below 800 pixels, and that the video must be shorter than a total of fifteen minutes. Oddly enough, it is quite obvious how the size difference between an image that size and a video that long vary, so the restrictions are peculiar but no one is complaining as of yet. The image size is perfect for the average site, and even the average blogger does not use a layout that would take advantage of a full 800 pixel image. The service is also becoming more useful to mobile phone users, mainly on the Android Operating System due to Google, because the pictures can now easily be uploaded and shared directly from the phone user interface, with unlimited space at that. Consumers who take many videos on the other hand should not have too much of a problem with the fifteen minute video length, and the new storage space will be a welcomed addition into the service for those looking elsewhere for their file sharing experience.
