Startup launches social media monitoring tool for enterprises
Hearsay, a startup founded in 2009, is launching a cloud-hosted social media management application tailored specifically for companies that have a national brand as well as a broad base of local affiliates. The product, called Hearsay Social, lets these companies plan, implement, roll out and monitor their social media presence on sites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn both at the national and local levels.

ICANN assigns its last IPv4 addresses
The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) has handed out its last IPv4 addresses, leaving the remaining blocks to regional registries that in some cases may exhaust them within a few months. The end of IPv4 (Internet Protocol version 4) addresses was announced in a ceremony in Miami on Thursday morning. Each of the five Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) was allocated one of the final five large blocks of about 16 million addresses.

Big opportunities brewing in marketplace for Big Data
The data marketplace, where users can hunt for specialized data, is becoming a lucrative market with growing opportunities, technologists stressed at a Silicon Valley technical conference Wednesday. "Data is a $100 billion market worldwide," said Pete Forde, founder and chief technical officer at BuzzData, during a session at the O'Reilly Strata conference, which featured discussions on dealing with large data volumes and the concept of "Big Data." County alleges SAP, Deloitte engaged in racketeering
The government of Marin County, California, is suing two SAP subsidiaries and Deloitte Consulting, alleging they "engaged in a pattern of racketeering activity designed to defraud the County of more than $20 million." SAP must deliver a response to the suit by Feb. 23, according to a filing made Tuesday in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. The county originally filed suit in December in a lower California court, and the case was removed to federal court last week, according to the filing.
