More T-Mobile USA Subscribers Flee
According to the 4th Quarter numbers, T-Mobile remained in the 4th place position, behind AT&T, Verizon Wireless and Sprint. While the top 3 carriers gained customers, T-Mobile lost 318,000 contract-based subscribers. The losses have not been well received at Deutsche Telekom AG, T-Mobile's parent company. Motorola Sued Over Use of Xoom Name
The Xoom Corporation is suing Motorola for trademark infringement along with a host of other charges over the newly released Xoom tablet. The California based company is requesting a restraining order for Motorola using the Xoom name pending a trial and is seeking damages. Motorola has "created a false association" between the Xoom tablet and Xoom Corp., an association that does not exist, the filing said. Comments

Nintendo 3-D Handheld Goes on Sale in Japan
Today was the first day of sales for the new Nintendo 3DS, a glasses-free 3D gaming system. Nintendo is confident the new system will be the first mass marketed 3D device, indicating the prospect for large scale sales. The company also predicts the sale of 4 million units through the end of March, a pretty hefty claim considering the time frame availability in the US and Europe. The Nintendo 3DS, which costs 25,000 yen ($300) in Japan, goes on sale in Europe on March 25 for 250 euros, and arrives in the U.S. on March 27 for $250. Comments

Epic Makes Unreal Engine Available for Free
Epic Games has made the Unreal Development Kit available to small developers for free. The kit previously has been available for $99 with a cap of $5K in revenues. The new offer raises that to figure to $50K, making it affordable for developers of 'casual' games to get more creative without the usual financial constraints. Under the new rules, developers are not required to pay royalties on revenue earned from the use of the kit until revenue exceeds $50,000, according to Epic Vice President Mark Rein. Comments

Westboro Baptist Church isn't well known for making good decisions and that was proven this week when they decided to tweak the nose of Anonymous, the invisible hacktivist group.
