ASUS ENGTX570 Video Card Review
For those of you in the market for a new video card, we have posted our evaluation of the ASUS ENGTX570 video card for your consideration. Today's evaluation also examines the practice of selling video cards with minimal factory overclocks and what that does (or doesn't) bring to the table. ASUS' new ENGTX570 video card is competitively priced and has the potential for greatness using VoltageTweak. We compare it to the Radeon HD 6970 and see how well it performs out-of-the-box and overclocked using VoltageTweak. This review will show you just how tight things are around the $349 price point. ASUS P7P55D Premium
A review of the ASUS P7P55D Premium motherboard has been posted at PCStats today. For those of you wondering why reviews of older boards like this are popping back up: While much of Intel's world has been thrown into a tizzy by the Q1'2011 Intel P67/H67 chipset recall (initial B2 stepping only), we thought it timely to look in on Intel P55 motherboards from ASUS that offer some of the bells and whistles of Intel P67 platforms, with none of the bad recall aftertaste. For funsies, you can see our ASUS P7P55D Premium here and our ASUS P7P55D-E Premium evaluation here. Comments

Media Psychiatrist Ratchets Up Anti-Videogame Rhetoric
Remember the psychiatrist last week that claimed video games have caused an increase in rapes? Yeah, too bad there isn't a single study that backs her claims. Despite the seriousness of Lieberman's allegations, when Wired.com asked her multiple times to clarify her comments, she failed to cite a single study, statistic or piece of evidence that proved her point. Perhaps it's because such studies simply don't exist. Comments

The Coming Fight Over .gay Domain
I think the people behind this .gay domain idea should talk to the .xxx people and ask them how long it will take to get this off the ground. You already own dotgay.com. Why not just create travel.dotgay.com, and so on, without applying for a new top-level domain? It's not the same--you're subject to whatever .com is subject to. (Instead we'll be) in the island of .gay, which will have its own policies and be able to police people who are abusive. There's a big difference between being a site versus a place where multiple sites can exist. Comments

Eco-Friendly LED Bulbs Loaded with Lead, Arsenic
It would seem that those eco-friendly LED bulbs are chock full of stuff that will kill you. Then again, just because these lights will kill you doesn't mean they aren't "eco-friendly," arsenic and lead kills humans, the planet will be better off once we're gone. The LED bulbs sold as safe and eco-friendly can contain high levels of lead, arsenic and other hazardous substances, a new UC Irvine study shows - the same bulbs widely used in headlights, traffic lights, even holiday lights. The toxic material could increase the risk of cancer, kidney disease and other illnesses, although the risks are more long-term than immediate; a single exposure to a broken bulb is unlikely to cause illness. The Dirty Little Secrets of Search
The things people do to be the number one search result is pretty amusing when you think about it. The company draws a pretty thick line between techniques it considers deceptive and "white hat" approaches, which are offered by hundreds of consulting firms and are legitimate ways to increase a site's visibility. Penney's results were derived from methods on the wrong side of that line, says Mr. Pierce. He described the optimization as the most ambitious attempt to game Google's search results that he has ever seen. Comments

If you are going to make a video of yourself driving 140 mph on the freeway, it is probably a good idea not to tell the cop that pulls you over you "videotaping this for YouTube." When Postlewait asked why he was videotaping, Bakanov said he was filming his speedometer, and his arrest, to post on Youtube. The video later revealed that Bakanov had attained speeds in excess of 140 mph. Comments

Motorola Xoom Preorders on February 17th
The specs on Motorola's Xoom tablet are quite impressiveÂ…..and so is its price tag. The reportedly leaked in-house price from Best Buy is a staggering $1199.99. The price had been estimated to be in the $800 range so as to stay competitive with the $799 Apple iPad. This could be an advertising ploy to attract attention to the preorder opening date or merely just an advertising pricing error. Truth be known on Thursday. We'll wait to see if that $1,199.99 number sticks. But for those hoping for a strong iPad competitor, that price certainly wouldn't bode well, especially with the iPad 2 just weeks away from being announced. Comments
