Super Mario All-Stars for Wii has four classic games on one disc
I would be willing to be that any gamer that was around when the Super Nintendo game system came out way back in the day spent time playing Super Mario Bros. That was the game to have and probably the title I spent most of my summers playing as a kid. It's hard to get away from the fact that Mario is turning 25 this year and to celebrate Nintendo has been offering up some special titles.

Super Mario All-Stars for Wii has four classic games on one disc

The latest of the special titles is called Super Mario All-Stars. The game is for the Wii and is a limited edition package that has four classic Mario games that you can play on the Wii console. Seagate offers green HDD with industry's highest performance
When it comes to storage, Seagate is one of the biggest names in the storage industry with its line of offerings for computers and enterprise use. Seagate is big on green storage and has unveiled a new line of HDDs that it claims have the industry's highest performance while sipping power. The new line is called the Barracuda Green hard drive.

Seagate offers green HDD with industry's highest performance

The drives spin at 5900 rpm, which is the fastest in the industry for green drives. The drives are also the first to use 4K sectors in the desktop segment. In addition to sipping power, the drives are also made with green practices. The drives can be 70% of more recycled and use low halogen compounds. The new line of drives is offered in 2TB, 1.5TB and 1TB with all shipping right now. The line was formerly known as the Barracuda LP series.
"Not only do Barracuda Green drives offer environmental improvements in power consumption and material usage, but these drives are also among the first hard drives from Seagate to offer SmartAlign technology," said Dave Mosley, Seagate executive vice president of Sales, Marketing and Product Line Management. "This is important because the industry is transitioning to 4K sector formatting called Advanced Format to improve capacities and maintain strong error correction. However, the transition to Advanced Format without SmartAlign technology can be complex and require additional integration steps and software utilities to avoid performance degradation. SmartAlign technology removes these concerns and makes this transition virtually invisible for our customers."

Google says they'll have failed if Chrome OS and Cloud Computing don't become the norm
Google seems to love to aim high, they also have a bucket load of faith in their upcoming Chrome OS. So much faith that they see it as a massive shift in computing use.

Google says they'll have failed if Chrome OS and Cloud Computing don't become the norm

Chrome OS product manager Caesar Sengupta said in an interview:
"Do you really see these types of machines taking over from the Windows computers and Macs that many people use now?
I think it depends on the user and the user's behavior. In the long term and the fullness of time, absolutely. I think we will have failed if this doesn't become your default way of computing. But right now, we see hundreds of millions of users who live on the web. For many of these users, this will replace their machines immediately, especially as web apps get better."
Changes are coming... big changes.

Android Market to get a makeover, Cover-Flow style look
The Android Market is looking to start over, the apps will stay the same but the look and feel will give the Market a complete overhaul of it's current state.

Android Market to get a makeover, Cover-Flow style look

On the home screen of the Market there will be a new carousel feature that allows users to flip through apps in a "Cover-Flow" style look. There are also new categories "Live Wallpapers" and "Widgets" and there are promises of more categories for popular apps in the future.
Once inside an apps' page there will no longer be the old tabbed interface but rather a single, "streamlined" page. There's also a heavier use of the color green.
Google have also changed the refund time of apps from 24 hours to 15 minutes and they've also increased the maximum download file size to 50MB with the hope of richer games and offering better support for different screen resolutions, etc.
This new update to the Android Market will begin rolling out to Android 1.6+ users in the next couple of weeks.

WoW: Cataclysm - DX9 versus DX11 - huge performance increases!
Want some free performance increases for WoW: Cataclysm? Don't want to buy anymore hardware? Own a DX11-capable card? Well, look no further! Blizzard has added some experimental support for DX11 in Cataclysm, it doesn't add to the eye candy but it's added for increased performance.

WoW: Cataclysm - DX9 versus DX11 - huge performance increases!

If you're an owner of DX11 hardware (AMD Radeon HD5000/6000 series or NVIDIA's GeForce 400/500 series) then you're in luck. To enable the DX11 performance increases, you'll need to do a bit of shortcut editing.
You'll need to add '-d3d11' to your World of Warcraft shortcut. Or, open your config.wtf file (located in ...World of WarcraftWTF) and add the line SET gxApi "d3d11".
The increases are anything from 10% to 30%. At CPU-bound resolutions (1680x1050 and 1920x1080) there are some large benefits (roughly 30%!!) by enabling this feature. At 2560x1600 the benefits are not as large, but still 22% extra performance is nothing to sneeze at.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim teaser!
Elder Scrolls V has been rumored to use id's Tech 5 engine but this has proven false with the news that Bethesda will be using an in-house "all-new" engine.

There's no details of what the engine is capable of, but it will surely be great. There's not much else known about the game other than the teaser video above, but it will be launching on all 3 platforms - PC, PS3 and 360.
Game designer Todd Howard has talked about the engine previously and said: "Fallout 3 technically does a lot more than Oblivion. The new stuff is an even bigger jump from that," Howard said. "I can say it is on the existing platforms, which we're really happy with. You almost feel like you have a new console when you see the game."
He also said Bethesda had been working on the technology behind the new engine for "many years".

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm breaks PC gaming sales records!
Activision Blizzard's latest game has gone crazy - selling 3.3 million copies in 24 hours! This has broken the previous record of 2.8 million units sold in 24 hours by non other than, Wrath of the Lich King.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm breaks PC gaming sales records!

Even though the product is digital, brick-and-mortar stores saw gamers lining up for hours before launch to get their grubby little hands on a copy. Senior Vice President of Merchandising at Gamestop, Bob McKenzie said "World of Warcraft: Cataclysm delivered even bigger day-one sales than we experienced with StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty in July, making this a record year for Blizzard Entertainment at GameStop."
The game went on sale at midnight at over 10,000 locations around the world, and the game launched in he United States, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Europe, Russia, Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand on December 7, and became available in Korea and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau on December 9.
WoW is now home to 12 million players, would it still be considered a game? Phenomenal numbers for a game that seems to just continually grow, is the next expansion going to be called "Black Hole"?

Ex-WikiLeaks people start OpenLeaks
WikiLeaks former partner Daniel Domscheit-Berg has said he is set to launch the next-generation of leaking 'software' in the "coming months". It's set to be called OpenLeaks and will try to fix the "problems" associated with the WikiLeaks model, mostly centralization.

Ex-WikiLeaks people start OpenLeaks

The difference between OpenLeaks and WikiLeaks is, WikiLeaks publishes the information, vets it then releases it on it's site. OpenLeaks will simply be a "conduit" of information. Domscheit-Berg says it "aims to provide the technological means to organizations and other entities around the world to be able to accept anonymous submissions in the forms of documents or other information."
Another change from WikiLeaks is OpenLeaks will not have a person synonymous with it, where WikiLeaks has Julian Assange as it's public face. OpenLeaks will have no single person who stands above others or is allowed to be the single point of failure.
This is also the reason why Domscheit-Berg and others left WikiLeaks as it became too much about itself and Julian than the information it was publishing. Even though the information it's publishing is showing just how dirty the real world is behind all of the controlled media.

Steve Ballmer could demo Windows 8 and slate tablets at CES
The CES rumor mill is starting to run full force with the big event only a few weeks away. Microsoft is right in the middle of it this time, with Steve Ballmer's keynote possibly including new tablet demos and a tease for Windows 8.

Steve Ballmer could demo Windows 8 and slate tablets at CES

According to The New yourk Times, Ballmer's looking to launch some shots at the iPad's tablet userbase with some help from Samsung and Dell; a 10.1" tablet from Samsung with a slide out keyboard being among the largest possibilities. An HTML5 web based app store could also be in the works, as well as an early sneak peek at Windows 8. All of these products aren't supposed to see the light of day until at least the second half of next year, but this could wash the taste of last year's HP Slate demo out of Microsoft's mouth since that tablet never saw the light of day. TweakTown will be at CES in full force with coverage, so stay tuned.

RumorTT--Verizon iPhone could be LTE capable
The Verizon iPhone 4 rumors have been fairly steady and similar over the last few months, but now there's something a little different being kicked around. Originally thought to be a 3G only device when/if it ever sees the light of day, the Verizon iPhone 4 is now being rumored to be LTE capable, which would make it the first 4G iPhone.

RumorTT--Verizon iPhone could be LTE capable

This rumor surfaced from a source from MacDailyNews that also states Verizon is already training new staff on the iPhone and could announce the new iPhone "right after" Christmas. The single source is the only one substantiating these rumors at the moment, but many were figuring on the Verizon CEO's CES keynote for the time this announcement would hit. It's all grain of salt stuff at this time, so stay tuned.

Mass Effect 3 coming for PC, PS3 and 360 in "Holiday 2011"
Mass Effect 3. Yes, it's coming. When? Holiday 2011 - it seems like a long time from now, but I promise it'll go fast. ME3 was revealed at the 2010 Video Game Awards with a teaser without gameplay (like all the rest of the teases).

Before the awards show, EA briefly listed the game on it's site with the following spiel:
Earth is burning. Striking from beyond known space, a race of terrifying machines have begun their destruction of the human race. As Commander Shepard, an Alliance Marine, your only hope for saving mankind is to rally the civilizations of the galaxy and launch one final mission to take back the Earth.

There were large changes from the original Mass Effect to the sequel, but expect big changes for the third (and possibly last) Mass Effect game. It's also a good nod toward Sony PS3 owners with it being announced that it's coming out on all 3 platforms at once.

AMD Radeon 6970 shots and 3DMark 11 score

AMD Radeon 6970 shots and 3DMark 11 score

As you can see from the shot, the 6970 retains the dual-slot design with blower-style fan and requires 1 x 8pin and 1 x 6pin PCI-Express power connector. One of the surprises is the little switch that can be seen near the two Crossfire connectors.

AMD Cayman PCB naked shots
After some naked shots of AMD's so-close-we-can-smell-it Radeon HD6970? Look no further, below there are some shots of the card with it's cooler taken off and put on it's coat hanger.

AMD Cayman PCB naked shots

There are also various spec details regarding the GPU and it's board design also.
To begin with, the GPU indeed has a 256-bit wide memory interface, counting the memory chips on the obverse side, and looking at the size of the GPU package.
The size of the die, and taken that Cayman is a 40 nm GPU, indicate that Cayman is not much bigger than Cypress, it should be about 400~500 million transistors higher compared to Cypress.

AMD Cayman PCB naked shots

Given the roughly 2500 million transistor count, the stream core count of 1536 seems more realistic. AMD is said to be using an architecturally
superior VLIW4 stream processor design that increases performance per mm² die area.
The board uses a high-grade 6+2+1+1 phase digital PWM voltage regulation design, draws power from 8+6 pin power connectors.
The reverse side of the PCB has no memory chips, so AMD might be using 2 Gbit memory chips to get 2 GB of total memory

HP and Rossignol team up for special edition notebooks
It rarely snows in my part of Texas so we have nothing in the way of winter sports here. For the most part, we stay in the 50-degree range during the winter with sub-freezing temperatures only at nights and during the day for a few days. That means we aren't familiar with companies that make skis and such for the most part. If you live where it gets cold and snows or if you like to travel where you can ski you probably know the Rossignol name.

Rossignol makes skis and other winter sports gear. It and HP have teamed up for some special edition notebooks that have artwork that are featured on some of its cool ski gear. The notebooks have Intel Core i5 CPUs, Windows 7 Home Premium OS, a 15.6-inch HD screen, and run Photoshop Elements and Premier Elements for editing photos and video. The machine has 500GB of storage and a webcam as well. The machines will hit Europe in mid-January for 699 eur starting.

Google Latitude app hits App Store
If you have lots of friends that you like to keep track of for meet up or just to satisfy the voyeur in you, Google Latitude has landed for the iPhone. The Latitude service was first offered as a web-based application only and after sneaking out for a short while last week it is now on the App Store for you to download.

Google Latitude app hits App Store

The app lets you share your location with friends that want to follow you using the map service and you can do the same with them. The idea behind the app is that you can find where your friends are and then follow the maps to meet them if you want. I can also see this app being something that parent who wants to know where their kids are being able to use this for tracking purposes.
If you are the privacy type, you can set the app to not update in the background. As it is, the app automatically offers up your location data even when your phone is locked and the screen is off. You can turn that feature off if you want so you only share your location say on a Friday night when you need people to hang out with. The app can also be set to show only your city not the specific street where you are.

Quick Review: HIS HD 5450 Silence 1GB PCIe x1 Eyefinity Video Card

Quick Review: HIS HD 5450 Silence 1GB PCIe x1 Eyefinity Video Card

With the release of the HD 6000 series you can be forgiven for wondering why we're testing not only a HD 5000 series card, but a low end HD 5450. Well, the reason we're doing it is because HIS are bring us something a little different to the table this time around.
Due to the fact that no real testing has to be done on the model, we've opted to bring it into our Quick Review style. Before we cover what makes the model stand out, though, let's check out what's going on in the package.

Quick Review: HIS HD 5450 Silence 1GB PCIe x1 Eyefinity Video Card

Being a low end card, there's not a lot going on in the package which doesn't come as a surprise. We've got our standard inclusions like driver CD and manual. Along with that we've got a DVI to HDMI connector and also two low profile brackets. One has a DVI and DisplayPort hole while the other offers a spot for the VGA port.
The card itself doesn't look too unusual; it's a HD 5450 with a passive cooler and low profile. It's not really until you take a second look you notice that tiny little PCI-E x1 connector at the bottom of the card.

Quick Review: HIS HD 5450 Silence 1GB PCIe x1 Eyefinity Video Card

While a PCI-E x1 card is something a little different, it's not overly special for a lot of people. What this card offers, though, is the inclusion of Eyefinity support thanks to the inclusion of the DisplayPort connector.
If you want to make use of Eyefinity, you will, as with every other Eyefinity setup, need a DisplayPort monitor. Along with that you need a VGA one and a DVI or HDMI one, depending if you're going to make use of the DVI to HDMI connector that's included in the package.

Quick Review: HIS HD 5450 Silence 1GB PCIe x1 Eyefinity Video Card

While Eyefinity tends to link to gaming more than anything else, this HD 5450 clocked at 650MHz with 1GB of GDDR3 memory at 2000MHz isn't a gaming card in any sense of the word. Instead, the PCI-E x1 nature of the card and the model that it is means that it's aimed more at the business sector.

Quick Review: HIS HD 5450 Silence 1GB PCIe x1 Eyefinity Video Card

The people who would buy this will more than likely own low profile systems that don't have a PCI-E x16 connector. HIS go as far to say this on the front of the box while at the same time listing some of the systems that support PCI-E x1 only, which included the PowerEdge Server T110, Dimension 3100 and Optiplex 745 to name just a few systems.

Quick Review: HIS HD 5450 Silence 1GB PCIe x1 Eyefinity Video Card

While the model is going to indeed have a very small market, it's going to be a very specific market which is exactly what HIS are aiming at; a market that isn't really penetrated by anyone else at the moment or involves expensive options which use USB to power.
For most this isn't a model that's going to interest you and your personal PC; on the other hand it could be exactly the kind of video card that you need at work. Multiple monitor setups no doubt increase productivity and if you're able to get that setup for a bit over a hundred dollars, then this is a fantastic option.
We love it when companies start to think outside the box and while we would love to have a card with huge amounts of memory, massive clocks and heaps of connectors, the HD 5450 Silence 1GB PCI-E x1 card offers something different and that's ultimately what we love to see.
As we said; sure the model isn't for everyone, but who it is aimed at will indeed appreciate the thought that HIS has put into the card. And while it might not handle ultra-high resolution monitors due to the VGA connectivity, it won't have issues doing 1920 x 1080 if you're using widescreen ones and won't have any issue handling most older 4:3 monitors which probably carry native VGA. Of course, for the best setup you'll have three monitors that are the same.

AMD Catalyst 10.12 Windows 7 Driver Analysis

Introduction
It's official; we're in December with the release of the Catalyst 10.12. As the Catalyst driver team has done over the past few Decembers, they're at it again offering us something special at the end of the year.
Unfortunately it doesn't seem like performance improvements are very focused on this month. Instead we've got ourselves a fresh looking interface and you can see just below the transition that has happened over the years.

AMD Catalyst 10.12 Windows 7 Driver Analysis

We won't go into too much detail on the whole interface, but we will cover it a little in our final thoughts. As usual, though, we'll fire up our benchmarks and see if anything is happening when it comes to performance improvements.
Before we move into that, though, it's got to be said outside of the new interface that we're seeing today, the Catalyst 10.12s now also support the new HD 6800 series that we saw launch in October. For that reason we're mixing it up a bit when it comes to our test line-up, but we'll cover that on the next page.

Thermaltake BlacX Duet HDD Docking Station

Thermaltake BlacX Duet HDD Docking Station

Introduction
Over the last couple months we took on the mission of finding the perfect HDD desktop docking station. The first two products we looked at were low cost units that were only limited by the amount of bandwidth our motherboard was able to provide. After that we moved on to the Thermaltake BlacX 5G, another USB 3.0 docking station that included some great accessories, an extra long cable that made moving our test system from under the desk less painful and was also able to deliver amazing performance. Now that we've seen the best USB 3.0 has to offer, a new docking station has taken over our test bench. The Thermaltake BlacX Duet forgoes USB 3.0 entirely and sticks to a tried and true eSATA / USB 2.0 combination, but that's not what the duo in Duet is about.
Using eSATA's port replicator feature, Thermaltake managed to add another HDD dock to their standard USB 2.0 / eSATA docking station. This allows users to quickly add two raw hard drives to their system without cracking open the system's side panel. If you are a user who would like to swap one drive in and out of the system with ease, then most likely you have more than one drive to swap around. The best thing about the Duet, though, is that it still offers enough bandwidth to run the fastest SATA platter drives at full speed, just like USB 3.0 does.
Let's take a look at the full specification list for the Thermaltake BlacX Duet and see if this new, dual drive model is what we've been looking for.

Synology® Presents the High-Performance DS211+ NAS Server with Brand New Cool and Quiet Hardware Design for SMBs

The DS211+ incorporates major hardware upgrades from its predecessor. Its hot-swappable hard drive design minimizes the financial lost due to system downtime and increases reliability. The 92mm low-rotation fan and efficient airflow design provide sufficient airflow to keep the system running cooler than its predecessor, while ensure a low noise level at the same time. The special material of snap-on front cover absorbs HDD vibration, which further ensures quiet operation. The DS211+ was measured at only 19.4 dB(A) in operation, much lower than office background noise that is about 40 dB(A). The SD card and USB slots offers a plug-n-save quick solution to store data with just one touch on the button in the front panel.
"The brand new hardware design of DS211+ realizes our promise of providing satisfying solutions. We designed DS211+ to be hot-swappable for higher reliability, and also cool and quiet to ensure the best user experience," commented Chad Cheng, product manager of Synology Inc.
For fulfilling the demanding requirements of SMBs, the DS211+ delivers an average of 108MB/sec reading and 55MB/sec writing speeds under RAID 1 configuration in a Windows® environment. Its performance is further ensured by the 256-bit AES hardware encryption engine, which prevents unauthorized access attempts to hard drives, while at the same time boasts read speed to be 200% faster than the pure software engine.
The DS211+ offers rich features and applications with the renowned DiskStation Manager 3.0 operating system, which can replace several network hardware equipments in offices. Its comprehensive network protocol support assures seamless cross-platform data sharing and backup. Users can back up data to rsync servers, external hard drives via USB or eSATA connection, or cloud via Amazon® S3. Moreover, they can use Synology Time Backup to back up different versions of files, and flip through to find the most recent changes quickly. The Web Station provides virtual hosting feature via LAMP (Linux-Apache-MySQL-PHP) server, allowing hosting up to 30 websites. With simple setup steps, the DS211+ can also acts as mail server, printer server, FTP server, and centralized interface to monitor the office environments. Internet information security is a critical issue for SMBs. Other than the hardware encryption engine, the DS211+ provides encrypted file sharing, HTTPS, firewall, and IP auto-block support to increase the security level. Furthermore, users can efficiently control and set privileges with Windows® ACL support.
The Synology DS211+ is powered by 1.6GHz CPU, 512MB RAM, one Gigabit LAN port, three USB ports, one eSATA port, and one SD card slot. Compliant to the energy-saving trend, the DS211+ consumes relatively low power of 24 watts in operation and supports multiple scheduled power on/off and hard drive hibernation.
Availability
The Synology DS211+ is now shipping globally.

Seagate Ships Industry’s Highest Performance “Green” Desktop Hard Drive
Seagate Ships Industry's Highest Performance "Green" Desktop Hard Drive
Barracuda Green features Seagate SmartAlign technology for seamless transition to 4K sector desktop hard drives

Seagate Ships Industry’s Highest Performance “Green” Desktop Hard Drive

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Seagate (NASDAQ:STX) today announced the availability of the Barracuda® Green hard drive, the industry's highest performance eco-friendly 3.5-inch desktop drive for low-power personal computers, multi-drive home networking systems and external PC storage.
The Barracuda Green hard drive, formerly Barracuda® LP, combines the industry's highest spin speed (5900 RPM) with Seagate's SmartAlign™ technology to deliver best-in-class performance. SmartAlign technology enables all the benefits of the new 4K sector standard while simplifying drive installation by eliminating the need for utilities often required to ensure optimum drive performance. The cool-running, lower-power Barracuda Green hard drive delivers whisper-quiet acoustics and helps reduce system costs associated with the fans and power supply devices often required for power-hungry systems.
Barracuda Green hard drives also support Seagate Think Green™ programs for a greener more sustainable world:
• 70 percent or more of the materials used to build the drive can be recycled.
• All Barracuda Green drives use low halogen components to reduce the negative environmental impacts related to these substances.
• Barracuda Green is designed and built to the highest environmental standards.
"Not only do Barracuda® Green drives offer environmental improvements in power consumption and material usage, but these drives are also among the first hard drives from Seagate to offer SmartAlign™ technology," said Dave Mosley, Seagate executive vice president of Sales, Marketing and Product Line Management. "This is important because the industry is transitioning to 4K sector formatting called Advanced Format to improve capacities and maintain strong error correction. However, the transition to Advanced Format without SmartAlign™ technology can be complex and require additional integration steps and software utilities to avoid performance degradation. SmartAlign technology removes these concerns and makes this transition virtually invisible for our customers."
The Barracuda Green hard drive, offered in capacities of 2TB, 1.5TB and 1TB, is now shipping to the worldwide distribution channel.

BenQ BL Series Monitors are a work of corporate genius for visual technology leaders
BenQ BL Series Monitors are a work of corporate genius for visual technology leaders

BenQ BL Series Monitors are a work of corporate genius for visual technology leaders

Australia, December 2010: BenQ Australia are pleased to announce that the acclaimed BL series of 24", 22" and 19" LED monitors will be available in Australia this month.
Launched globally only a couple of months ago, Australia is one of the company's first markets to offer the BL2400PT monitor - a stylish 24" screen featuring a 'world-first' Full HD, LED VA-panel for a wider viewing angle (178?/ 178?) and colour reproduction second to none.
VA, or Vertical Alignment Panels display blacks more accurately because of their capability to produce true black with zero bright dot (ZBD) minimising light leakage. They offer an ultra-high contrast ratio and also provide a wider viewing angle compared to regular Twisted Nematic (TN) panels, so the monitor can be shared across the room with more people.
A dominant player in the design and manufacture of quality digital monitors, BenQ are leaders in LED technology, and were the first to market with new LED based VA-panel technology, which not only offers clarity and definition second to none, but also draws significantly less power making LED panels an eco-friendly choice.
Ergonomics feature heavily in the appeal of the new BL LED monitors from BenQ, with the larger 24" and 22" models offering an ultra flexible height adjustable stand to tailor height, tilt, pivot, stroke and swivel adjustment to align perfectly with the individual user.
Comfort is of ultimate importance in the BL Series range with additional features such as an automatic 'eye protect' sensor fitted to detect and adjust brightness on the screen for the ultimate level of clarity to effectively reduce eye fatigue.
Taking this OH&S stance a step further is the new BenQ Smart Reminder System. Based on the expert-recommended 20/20/20 Rule - that is, after twenty minutes of looking at a computer screen the user should look to a spot twenty feet away and blink twenty times to regain focus, the BL series of LED monitors actually signal rest times with a message that appears on screen - 'your eyes deserve a well timed rest' - at preset intervals of 20, 40, 60 or 80 minutes. This feature was determined as appropriate with the proven statistic that people blink 5-10 times less per minute than what the eye needs while staring at a computer screen.
Considering more than just the health of the person using the monitor, BenQ also keeps the environment front of mind in their BL series design with all models featuring a built-in 'eco sensor' to automatically switch the monitor into eco mode when the user steps away from their desk. This feature was created in response to research that shows on average, office workers spend around 20% of their working time away from their computer.
LED backlit technology is significantly more energy efficient then conventional LCD display technology, with estimated power savings of up to 33% per year, so they cost less to run.
Cost efficient and all-round eco-friendly - the BL Series monitor frames utilise zero mercury in their manufacture, are coating-free and are 100% recyclable at end of life. In fact, recycled plastic accounts for around 65% of the actual monitor's frame across the range. All materials used for packaging are EPS-free, with all PVC or foamed plastics replaced with recyclable paper cushion. Around 80% of the BL series packaging is recycled paper for added 'green' measure.
The 24' BL2400PT VA Panel monitor offers 16:9 aspect ratio and a 3000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, while the 22" BL2201PT is equipped with a 16:10 aspect and 1000:1 contrast ratio.
Said BenQ Australia's General Manager, Chee F. Chung, "BenQ are a global leader in LED monitor visual display and were actually one of the top three brands in Europe in 2009. Introducing the new VA Panel BL2400PT 24" and it's cousins, the BL2201PT 22"and BL902TM 19" monitors to Australia will go a long way to securing a top-ranking position for BenQ's LED monitor business in this country," said Chung, "and will define our reputation as a brand which excels in premium panel technology innovation."
BenQ's BL series Monitors also provide peace of mind with an unprecedented 4 year warranty period.
RRP:
BL902TM - $289
BL2201PT - $389
BL2400PT - $489
Warranty: 4 years
