Gigabyte Technology has chopped down some more Redwood and after intense carving, it finished up a new Radeon HD 5670 card, a crippled model named GV-R567D3-1GI which uses 1GB of DDR3 memory running on 1600 MHz, instead of regular GDDR5 at 4000 MHz.

Toshiba plans iPhone LCD panel factory
Toshiba reveals that they will spend close to $1.2 billion to build a factory that will be mainly used to supply LCD panels for the Apple iPhone. The facility will be built in Japan's Ishikawa prefecture by Toshiba's Mobile Display company, and low-temperature polysilicon LCD panels will be produced in the plant, allowing for high-resolution images on small displays.

Computer prices on the rise, says NDP
Research agency NDP says that consumers are now paying more for PCs, reversing a downward trend over the past few years according to a report. Computer prices rose by 6 percent in November, bucking a trend towards lower prices for other consumer technology such as HD TVs and digital cameras. Last year consumers were paying an average price of $580 for computers, but this increased to $615 this year.

Tegra 2 2.5 times faster than iPhone A4
The A4 chip used Apple's iPad and iPhone 4 is a 1GHz clocked Cortex A8 based part, while Nvidia's Tegra 2 is a 1 GHz dual-core and appears to pack a lot of graphics power. According to leaked official tech documents, Tegra 2 has a Peak Triangle Rate of astonishing 71 million triangles per second while the Power VR SGX 535 graphics core used in the A4 is capable of delivering 28 million triangles per second. Samsung’s Galaxy S i9000 and Google’s Nexus S both have the same Power VR SGX 535 GPU capable of 28 billion triangles.

Catalyst 10.12 brings new Control Center
AMD has released the Catalyst 10.12 driver for both desktop and mobile cards, and also delivered a preview package that includes the new CCC (Catalyst Control Center) featuring a reworked interface for easier navigation and use. The Catalyst 10.12 for desktop cards includes support for the Radeon HD 2000, HD 3000, HD 4000, HD 5000 and HD 6800 series models and the Radeon HD 3000 and HD 4000 series IGPs. The release notes are currently missing.

Seagate makes first enteprise 1TB 2.5-inch drive
Seagate has introduced its second-generation Constellation.2 family of enterprise hard drives with a 2.5-inch form factor. Made for use in data centers, they now reach up to 1TB and offer highest capacity in their size and have the lowest power consumption in the class. The choice of interface is equally diverse with either a 6Gbps SAS or same-speed SATA connection. At idle, the Constellation.2 drives use less than 3.9W. The drives can be used in Directed Attached Storage, Network Attached Storage and Storage Area Network setups in small businesses and large enterprise data centers.

Digital music sales grew slowly in 2010
As of November 21st, digital music downloads have only seen 5 percent year-over-year growth, a number much lighter than most record labels execs had expected and hoped for. The industry, while at least seeing continued growth from digital revenue has continued to see strong declines in CD sales, with 47 million fewer physical CDs being sold in 2010 YoY compared to 2009. So far, digital track gains have increased by 95 million this year.

Radeon HD 6970 has dual BIOS
First pictures of Radeon HD 6970 appeared online, and as we can see, the card has a dual slot design with a blower-style fan and needs one 8-pin and one 6-pin PCI-Express power connector. The most interesting thing is the small switch located near two Crossfire connectors, which is there because HD 6970 will have a dual BIOS!
