The global eight week-long ASUS 1156 Overclocking Championship, which commenced September 20, has successfully wrapped up on November 21. Many overclockers from all around the world competed in weekly contests, striving to raise their respective country flags to the top. The championship proved great fun for all participating ASUS users, and many were able to win numerous valuable prizes.

Nvidia out of most Apple notebooks for next year
The fresh rumors from various industry sources claim that Nvidia is out of Apple, and that Intel will replace it in most of its low-end notebook models with AMD getting many of it's mobile GPUs in some higher end MacBook Pro class models. Again, AMD will get Fusion to Apple in late 2011 for some entry level notebooks as well. Nvidia will continue to provide GPUs for recently refreshed MacBook Air products, and this won't change in 2011.

EU fines five LCD companies for price fixing
The European Union has fined five companies $863 million USD for being part of an LCD cartel that helped fix prices from 2001 through 2006. Samsung, the sixth LCD maker in the scheme and the largest in the world, blew the whistle on the other companies and therefore avoided a fine from the European Commission. LG Display, the second largest LCD maker in the world, was fined $284 million, and execs for each of the companies met in Taiwanese hotels at least 60 times during the time period, dubbing the exchanges the Crystal meetings . During the meeting, the execs would work on fixing prices while sharing information on future production plans.
