Palm preps tablet-friendly application framework
Hewlett-Packard has demonstrated Enyo, an upcoming Javascript framework for webOS, designed to make it easier to develop applications for smartphones and tablets at the same time. Enyo was demonstrated on Saturday at the webOS developer day in New York. The plan is for Enyo to replace Mojo, the existing framework, during 2011. A program to give developers early access to the SDK (software development kit) will start early next year, according to HP, which acquired Palm and its webOS mobile OS in April.

Attachmate buying Novell for $2.2 billion
Novell announced Monday it has agreed to be acquired by Attachmate for $2.2 billion, ending months of speculation over its future. The company has also agreed to sell certain intellectual property assets to CPTN Holdings, a technology consortium led by Microsoft, for $450 million in cash, a payment "reflected in the merger consideration to be paid by Attachmate."

iPhone 4 trumps Android rivals in customer satisfaction
Apple's iPhone continues to dominate rival smartphones in customer satisfaction, a research firm said today. A survey completed in early November of more than 1,200 U.S. consumers who had purchased a smartphone in the past six months found that Apple led all competitors in customer satisfaction, with 77 percent of iPhone owners saying they were "very satisfied" with their decision and device.
