Sony is giving its PSP Go gaming handheld a much-needed shot in the arm today with the announcement of a price cut from $249 to $199. The move comes just in time for the holiday shopping season and puts the device at just $30 more than Nintendo's DSi XL, $50 more than the DSi, and $70 more than the DSi Lite. Firefox extension makes Facebook 'sidejacking' easy
You might want to think twice before logging into your favorite websites when using an open Wi-Fi network. A new Firefox extension shows just how easy it is to snatch browser cookies sent over insecure connection for sites such as Facebook and Twitter, allowing malicious users to log into the same website via a process called HTTP session hijacking -- also known as sidejacking. The extension, dubbed Firesheep, was developed by freelance Seattle-based developer Eric Butler in an effort to push more websites into using full end-to-end encryption for logins.

Nokia pushes DSL speeds to 825Mbps
Nokia Siemens Networks has announced that it has successfully tested a technology that could boost the data-carrying capacity of standard copper wires. The result is astonishing: speeds of 825Mbps over a distance of 400 meters of bonded copper lines and 750Mbps over a distance of 500 meters. Right now, we are only starting to see the availability of DSL that can deliver 100Mbps. If this technology is ever christened as viable enough to go commercial, it would allow ISPs that offer DSL to push out even more from their copper infrastructure.

Android Market officially hits 100,000 apps
Nearly two years since it formally opened for business, the Android Market has hit the 100,000 apps mark, passing a significant milestone for Google's Android mobile operating system. The search giant made the announcement via a simple message on its Android Developer Twitter account: "One hundred thousand apps in Android Market." It's worth noting that this is the official number: third party services that offer unofficial estimates such as AndroLib claim there are 150,000 apps available in the market, but that's inaccurate.

Google's properties have gained 1 percent of worldwide Internet traffic share since January (a new record). The search giant is now averaging at 6.4 percent of all Internet traffic, according to Arbor Networks. While Internet traffic continues to surge overall (by an estimate of between 40 to 45 percent each year), Google continues to grow faster than the average.

Sprint Nextel, the fourth biggest US mobile service, plans to sell the Samsung Galaxy Tab for $400 as of November 14. The initial subsidized price tag means higher overall costs: the device will require a two-year contract with monthly service fees starting at $29.99 for 2GB of data. Thus, when you include the service fees, Sprint customers end up paying at least $1,120 over two years. There's also a $59.99 per month plan that gives you 5GB of data.

The Wi-Fi Alliance has begun certifying Wi-Fi Direct devices, meaning you can expect the first approved products to arrive this holiday season. Wi-Fi Direct enables device-to-device connections using current Wi-Fi standards. While communicating between Wi-Fi devices isn't new (the Nintendo DS, for instance, offers device-to-device Wi-Fi interaction), this is the first time the technology will not be proprietary. Furthermore, since Wi-Fi Direct is largely software based, many recent devices should be upgradeable (certification could be applied retroactively after a firmware upgrade).
