Adobe announces Air 2.5 for phones, tablets and TVs
Continuing its efforts to bring its technology to every device possible, Adobe has announced a new version of its Air cross-platform runtime environment that will bring support not only for PCs, but also mobile phones, tablets and TVs. Companies like Samsung, Acer, HTC, Motorola and RIM all set to support the technology, with Samsung reportedly shipping its SmarTV with a pre-installed version of Android and Air sometime in 2011.

Seagate: Apple is wrong about SSDs, hybrids are the future
During Apple's most recent Mac event, Apple CEO Steve Jobs said the new MacBook Air represented the future of the notebook. The major hardware difference between the Air and traditional notebooks is that it features a Solid State Drive (SSD) rather than a typical hard drive. Seagate meanwhile believes that SSDs won't be killing off traditional hard drives in the notebook sector, and will be replaced instead by hybrids.

Microsoft: Windows 8 is about two years away
In a blog post on its Dutch Web site, Microsoft not only referred to the next release of its PC operating system as Windows 8, which is the first time it has done so officially, but the company said it is about two years away from release. Microsoft has widely said that after the long time it took the company to bring Windows Vista to market, it would go back to a three-year cycle. The company managed to deliver early with Windows 7, in time for last year's holiday season. It is thus widely expected that Microsoft will have Windows 8 ready for the 2012 holiday season, but now the company has gone on record saying that it should arrive two years from now.
