The PlayStation Phone is Real
Seemingly rumored since the day the PlayStation Portable made its debut, Sony has finally made it official: the PlayStation Phone is real. The phone is a landscape slider model that when slid open reveals the familiar PlayStation controller layout. The PS Phone will likely be running Android 3.0 since that is anticipated to bring honest-to-goodness gaming to the OS at last. Along with the Android Marketplace will be a Sony Marketplace catering just to games designed for the phone. The hardware in the prototype is a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 chip, 512MB RAM, 1GB of ROM, and a screen between 3.7 and 4.1 inches in size. The slide out portion reveals the typical PS buttons, including shoulder buttons, and in the middle is a multitouch strip that may mimic the thumbsticks found on a PlayStation controller. One interesting item is that the phone sports a microSD slot instead of Sony's own Memory Stick. The unit shown is still a prototype so there is no custom UI and it is seemingly still buggy. Still though, it does show that Sony Ericsson is planning to bring the phone to market. Odds are it will be a 2011 release though it may slide in for the 2010 holiday season. So, who wants a PlayStation Phone now?

Razer sent out a press release today about the upcoming Anansi MMO Gaming Keyboard designed to make gaming easier for MMO players. "The Razer Anansi gaming keyboard is the new weapon of choice for MMO gamers,” said Robert “RazerGuy” Krakoff, president, Razer USA. “Let’s face it, the regular keyboard that came with your PC was designed and built for typing, not for MMO gaming. With its revolutionary seven thumb modifier keys, every key combination that you had before is now multiplied by seven times. The Razer Anansi allows you to use every spell, ability or custom macro in your arsenal -- both instantly and in complete comfort."

Barnes and Noble Nook Color Debuts
Barnes and Noble have just unveiled its newest e-reader, the Nook Color. The Nook Color ditches a black and white e-ink screen for a 7 inch, full color touchscreen. The Nook Color will still run on Android which is why B&N is billing it as a hybrid e-reader and tablet device. Barnes and Noble improved the UI to make it more tablet-friendly and also integrated Twitter and Facebook. The Nook Color features 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, 8GB of internal storage, but 3G is missing at this point. The 7 inch screen features a 1024x600 resolution and is an IPS display, something B&N calls "VividView." There is also a "full screen lamination film" on top to help reduce glare, both from the panel itself and outside sources. The Nook Color features a unique corner handle, a 0.48 inch thick body that weighs 15.6 ounces, and a microSD slot. Since it is a full color screen, the battery life comes in at eight hours with WiFi off. The Nook Color is an Android device so B&N is launching the Nook Developer program to allow for third-party apps on the device, plus it will ship with Pandora and Lonely Planet among others. The color screen also enables the new "Nook Kids" children books, full-color newspaper and magazine subscriptions, and even video playback.
The Barnes and Noble Nook Color will launch on November 19th for $249, though you can pre-order one starting today.
