Minecraft Halloween Preview
I know what you're thinking, "OH-EM-GEE", and that's exactly what I'm thinking too. Mark "Notch" Persson has given PC Gamer a little preview of the Halloween update that's going to come October 31st. The first thing you will notice in the update are the new enemies called "Ghasts". Ghasts have the physical characteristics of everything else in Minecraft; it's a cube for a head with more cubes as dangling tentacles. These new creatures are extremely hostile and, well, let's just say no good things will happen with more than two chasing you down. The reason they're so dang tough is that they're basically a mix between a Skeleton and a Creeper, where Ghasts will have the ability to shoot fireballs at you and explode everything around it; the other blocks around that don't explode will catch fire. Ghasts will only spawn in the "Hell" area. The new "Hell" area will mostly be made out of a red rock. The name has not yet been given to the red rock that will burn forever, and no, this time it's not a glitch. Notch has said that he may change the area's name as to not offend anyone. The fast travel system will multiply the player's traveled in the "Hell" area by 16 of the Earth area, so if you traveled 5 meters in "Hell" you would travel 80 meters on Earth. The portals allowing you to travel to "Hell" will be made of obsidian in a "n" shape three blocks high and four blocks wide. The new update will add six new blocks and the much anticipated biomes.

Team Fortress 2 Modders Cash In
The most recent Team Fortress 2 update added the Mann-conomy store, and started it off with 5 item sets included in the Polycount Pack. The designers of those item sets get 25% of all sales of their items. In the first two weeks since the store has opened, the five designers have made between $39,000 and $47,000. The payments were issued through Paypal, but two of the designers made more than the Paypal deposit limit. Valve flew them to its headquarters in Washington to hand them a check. Creators of community items from the past will soon see compensation for their work as well, though no time was announced. The next update will feature more new items as well as a new game mode. For any of you that play TF2 and have modelling skills, this could be a worthwhile path for you to pursue.

ARTIC Freezer 13 CPU Cooler Announced
ARCTIC, formerly Arctic Cooling, has just announced the newest CPU cooler in its lineup, the Freezer 13. The Freezer 13 is expected to build on the legacy of the Freezer 7 Pro while offering improved features and performance. The new heatsink is still a tower-style one with four high-performance heatpipes and a 92mm PWM fan. The maximum cooling capacity is 200W so the Freezer 13 should be able to handle any processor and overclock out there. ARCTIC has applied a layer of its ARCTIC MX-4 thermal paste to the base, so you won't have to worry about how to apply the paste to the processor. The four U-shaped heatpipes are soldered into the 45 aluminum fins, while the heatpipes and base are made of copper. The 92mm fan operates between 600 and 2,000RPM. The Freezer 13 features a new, custom mounting system that should make it go by easily and quickly. It uses push-pins and will not require removal of the motherboard since it will be compatible with both Intel and AMD. The mounting bracket is fiber reinforced so it should be able to withstand some amount of transporting, just I would still be careful with it regardless.
The ARCTIC Freezer 13 CPU cooler will be available this October for $35.90 or €27.60.
