Oracle's Ellison vows to prove new HP CEO was in on software theft
Oracle CEO Larry Ellison on Tuesday vowed to prove that new Hewlett-Packard CEO Leo Apotheker was in on a scheme to steal large amounts of Oracle software, when Apotheker was CEO of software maker SAP. With little fanfare, Microsoft on Tuesday promoted Windows 7 Service Pack 1 to release candidate status, hitting the last major milestone before the code is finalized and shipped early next year. Appcelerator, PayPal partner on mobile commerce platform
Appcelerator and PayPal are building a development toolset described by Appcelerator as the first-ever mobile commerce development platform, the companies announced Tuesday. Appcelerator, which provides development tools to build mobile applications, will offer a mobile commerce solution, called Titanium+Commerce, through PayPal's merchant channel. The partnership at the outset pairs the Titanium development platform for mobile applications with the PayPal Mobile Payment Library, also known as the PayPal button.

Windows Server 2008 gets virtualization boost
Microsoft is updating the server version of its Windows operating system to give the OS more virtualization capabilities. The company has posted a release candidate, a post-beta-but-not-yet-production-ready version of Service Pack 1 for Windows Server 2008 R2. The service pack can also be applied to Windows 7 as well.
