Yay! The courts have ruled that Amazon does not have to give up customer's personal information and details of what they purchased over the last seven years. Amazon has provided the state tax collectors with anonymized information about which items were shipped to which ZIP codes. But North Carolina threatened to sue if the retailer did not agree to divulge the names and addresses linked to each order--in other words, by providing personally identifiable information that could be used to collect additional use taxes that might be owed by state residents. Tech Tricks We're Sick of Seeing in Movies
I have to admit, I agree with most of the stuff on this list and the "let's enhance" video is comedy gold. But for every thrilling example of cool-ass tech, Hollywood seems to produce a tired, dated cliche. There's the obligatory no-cell-phone-service scene in horror flicks. There are robots with ATTITUDE in science fiction. There are impossible user interfaces in action films. The list goes on and on. Comments

Google Joins Apple in Counterattack Against Paul Allen
It looks like Apple has teamed up with Google to fight off patent infringement lawsuits filed by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. Google launched the counterattack against Allen on Oct. 18 when it filed a motion to dismiss the claims. Students Without Electronics Suffer Withdrawals
Students cut off from computers, phones and TV for just 24 hours suffered withdrawals. Doctors say that the withdrawals were similar to drugs or alcohol addiction but much better than the zombie-like state they were in while they were using their phones, PCs and TVs. A pilot study conducted in the US last year revealed some astounding results. BU Lecturer in Communication and Journalism, Dr Roman Gerodimos, who is leading 'Unplugged' in the UK, said: "Students reported feeling withdrawal symptoms that were similar to drug or alcohol addiction. The words 'addiction' and 'dependence' kept recurring in their narratives. Comments

AMD 6800 Series Review
The crew at Overclockers Club have posted their review of AMD's new 6800 series video cards. The gang ran the HD 6850 and HD 6870 through a complete set of benchmarks and threw in a little overclocking for good measure. For comparison purposes, you can see our evaluation here. The HD 68XX series are cards that target NVIDIA's GTX 460 and hit the mark on performance and price. The performance of the HD 6870 was actually better than I was expecting and shows that you can get excellent performance for a sub $250 price tag. All-in-all, the two series delivered excellent performance in the game testing by comparison to a stacked field. Comments
