[Rumour] Radeon HD 6850 on October 18th; is Barts Pro?
vr-zone.com - Swedish website Sweclockers claim to have to scoop on Radeon HD 6850's release date and specifications. A series of previous rumours staded that Barts may be branded as Radeon HD 6800 instead of HD 6700 - a rumour that was received with much skepticism. Sweclockers are now reigniting the same rumour by reporting Barts Pro may end up branded as Radeon HD 6850. The media embargo reportedly ends on 18th October, though a wide availability date is not given.

Intel Sandy Bridge "K" overclocked to 4.9 GHz on air

However, Intel is releasing "K" series unlocked multiplier variants of upcoming Sandy Bridge CPUs targeted specifically at overclockers. At a demonstration at IDF 2010, Intel demonstrated that overclocking is alive and well, with a Sandy Bridge K sample overclocked to a whopping 4.9 GHz. Perhaps more impressive is that this result was achieve on air, with a stock cooler resembling the Core i7 980X heatsink.

AMD Radeon HD 6800 Described
vr-zone.com - Italian website Hardware Upgrade have managed to spend some time with an engineering sample of Cayman. Unfortunately, they have decided not to post pictures, but have instead given a description of the part. It is not mentioned whether the card is Cayman Pro or Cayman XT, but it is likely to be the latter. From the outside, the Cayman / HD 6800 card features a reference design very similar to the Radeon HD 5870, except there are no openings at the front, which had led to many people likening the HD 5870 to "Batmobile". However, since this is an engineering sample, the final reference design can change.
