Tegra 2-powered eLocity A7 tablet up for preorder
Tablets are slowly creeping onto the scene, and Stream TV Networks is looking to cut itself a small slice of the market. The company's eLocity A7 tablet is now up for preorder on Amazon for $370, but there's no word on when it'll actually land on your doorstep. As far as tablets go, the eLocity A7 isn't the prettiest or the fastest, but it has at least one thing going for it: it's the "first" Android 2.2 tablet purchasable in the US. Who knows if it'll actually be the first to ship, because Archos has line of Froyo slates due soon as well.

Acer intros Revo 3700 nettop with dual-core Atom, Nvidia Ion
Acer has introduced a new ultra-compact PC suitable for both home media and general purpose uses. The Apsire Revo 3700 packs some respectable horsepower into a one-liter chassis, including a dual-core 1.8GHz Intel Atom D525 processor and an Nvidia Ion GPU. The machine can handle 1080p HD media, and Acer says it can cope with DirectX 10 games "at great frame rates." That's misleading and subjective at best, but the Ion's no slouch to be sure.

Budget Sub-$150 Solid State Drive Round-up
Recently there has been a surging demand for solid state drives that sacrifice space for speed and more affordable price tags, and manufacturers have been racing to deliver just that. Most of the drives featured in this round-up offer 32GB - 40GB capacities, while a few others top out at 64GB. As limiting as a 32GB drive might appear, they can still be extremely useful in enhancing a PC's performance when set to run as the boot drive. These smaller drives can also accommodate for select programs where they can greatly speed up the use of the application, for example, Adobe Photoshop.

Firefox 4 beta 5 lands, GPU acceleration enabled by default
The fifth beta version of Firefox 4 has landed, marking another milestone for the browser and bringing us a bit closer to the final release. The latest build doesn't add many features, but there are a few noteworthy changes. GPU acceleration, which was introduced in beta 4, is now enabled by default for Windows 7 users, so you don't have to make any changes in about:config -- unless you want to disable it. If that's the case, follow the first three steps here, except set the entry to "false" instead of "true".

Asus adds GTX 460M to G53, G73 gaming notebooks
Given the early GF100 Fermi chip's inefficiency, the chip just wasn't cut out for life on the road. Only a handful notebooks launched with the GTX 480M and sales have probably been underwhelming to say the least. Last week, Nvidia added half a dozen parts to its mobile DirectX 11 offering, including two enthusiast-grade GPUs -- one being the mobile GTX 460.

Next Intel reference motherboard to have USB 3.0?
Intel is widely expected to hold back USB 3.0 support on its own chipsets until sometime in 2011 -- or even further. However, if recent mumblings are to be believed the company might still include the new interface in its next reference motherboard design. The announcement is expected at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) 2010 later this month, according to DigiTimes, which points out that the move is expected to speed up adoption of USB 3.0 devices.

VIA readies dual-core and quad-core Nano processors
Via managed to get some buzz going on when the Nano processor was first introduced back in 2008. But even though early benchmarks seemed promising performance-wise, Intel had the upper hand when it came to power consumption, which is a very important factor to consider with mobile computing devices. The rest of the story you already know: today Atom chips power virtually every netbook sold in the U.S. and Europe while Nanos, for the most part, have been confined to smaller educational and developing markets.

Budget Sub-$150 Solid State Drive Round-up
High prices are always a stumbling block to new tech adoption and with SSDs it hasn't been any different. We've come a long way from first generation drives that suffered from severe slowdowns, but solid state drives are still far from replacing traditional storage and this is easily explained by comparing cost per gigabyte.
