MSI Readies N480GTX Lightning Graphics Card
Here is MSI's latest creation, the N480GTX Lightning. This GeForce GTX 480 based monstrosity is geared for extreme overclocking, and caters to the highest-end consumer segments, but at a surprisingly modest price (relatively) of $550. It features a factory-overclocked GTX 480 GPU clocked at 750/1500/1000(4000) MHz, with standard memory amount of 1.5 GB across a 384-bit wide memory interface, 480 CUDA cores, and 4-way SLI support. Where the fun kicks in is its design. The card uses a beastly-looking dual-fan double-slot air cooler that makes use of dense aluminum fin arrays, and distributed heat zones.

Under the hood, is a powerful power circuit that makes use of a 17-phase VRM, with four super ML Proadlizer capacitors for power conditioning, and high-C flatbed capacitors overall. There are noiseless solid-state chokes and high-grade direct FETs Power is drawn in from two 8-pin and one 6-pin power connectors. Apart from consolidated voltage measure points, DIP switches provide a certain amount of control over some settings. Overclocker-friendly feature include dual BIOS. Display outputs include dual DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort. MSI did not reveal exactly when this card will make it to the market, or whether it's a Limited Edition product.

Gigabyte Readies GeForce GTS 450 Duo
Gigabyte is readying not one, but two distinct GeForce GTS 450 graphics card designs, which will deck up the company's launch catalogue for this SKU: the first is a more cost-effective design, on which is based the GV-N450-1GI, while the second one is geared for OC variants (such as the GV-N450OC-1GI) and is designed for overclockers. The easiest way to identify this design on a sealed box is the mention of a "WindForce 2X" cooler that features a dust-reducing design.

Specifications wise, the GV-N450-1GI sticks to the essentials, and features a no-frills PCB and cooler. Its cooler makes use of a heatsink with forked, spirally-projecting aluminum fins, which draw heat away from a copper GPU base. This model sticks to NVIDIA reference clock speeds of 783/1566/900(3600) MHz core/shader/memory(memory effective). Along with every other base model, it is priced at $129.99. The second card, the GV-N450OC-1GI, features a longer PCB, with better components that support higher clock speeds, and is overclocker-friendly, in case you decide to go beyond its clock speeds of 830/1620/902(3608) MHz. This card features a robust-looking cooler that features a dense aluminum fin array, to which heat is conveyed by two 8 mm thick heat pipes, cooled by two fans. This card is priced just $10 over the base model. Both will launch early next week.

GeForce GTS 450 Gets Listed on US Store, Reference Clock Model Pegged at $129.99
A couple of days ahead of its worldwide launch, NVIDIA's GeForce GTS 450 based graphics cards from various board partners have been listed on American e-tailer Newegg.com. The list of cards shows an interesting mix of prices and variants. To begin with, the base-model (those which stick to NVIDIA's reference clock speeds of 783/1566/900(3600) MHz core/shader/memory, are pegged at US $129.99. These are followed by mild-overclock variants (those with 4~5% increase in clock-speeds) being priced at around $135, those with higher overclock settings out of the box (that's 9% to 12%) are priced between $135 and $140. The GeForce GTS 450 is NVIDIA's lower-mainstream SKU based on the 40 nm GF106 GPU, it has 192 CUDA cores, 1 GB of GDDR5 memory across a 128-bit wide memory interface, and support for the latest PC graphics APIs including DirectX 11 and OpenGL 4. It is slated for early next week.

AMD ''Barts'' XT Prototype Pictured
After recent photo exposés of the Cayman XT (Radeon HD 5870 successor) and Caicos (Radeon HD 5400 series successor), the third, juicy set of pictures exposes the XT variant of Barts reference board (Radeon HD 5770 successor), which will likely go on to become Radeon HD 6770.

While the specifications of the GPU are not known, what we can tell from the pictures is that the card is powered by two 6-pin power connectors, uses 4+1 phase digital PWM circuitry, and looks to have a 256-bit wide memory interface for a near 80~100% increase in memory bandwidth compared to the previous generation. Display outputs include two DVI, one HDMI, and two mini-DisplayPort. There is one CrossFire connector for 2-way CrossFire support. AMD will kickstart its next-generation Radeon graphics series launches later this year. Don't mind the puny looking GPU-cooler, AMD uses it on prototypes. The actual cooler's outline is drawn on the PCB.
