New Left 4 Dead Prequel
Players of both Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 are in for a treat, as a new DLC pack is on the horizon. "The Sacrifice" is a prequel to "The Passing" and will be available October 5 on PC and Xbox 360. The packs are separate for each game, and L4D2 players will also get the characters from the original game and the No Mercy campaign. In the new campaign, players will determine which of the survivors will be killed at the end, and presumably it could be different than who is missing in "The Passing." A series of comics accompanies the expansion, with the final comic being released next week. The DLC will be free for PC and 560 Microsoft Points on Xbox 360.

Logitech F540 Headset Allows Wireless Connection to Up to Three Sources
You may remember the new products Logitech just debuted a while back and saw a new headset in that group. Well, today Logitech has another new headset that is wireless but this time will allow a connection to up to three different sources, even game consoles. The new headset is the Logitech Wireless Headset F540 and you can connect up to three devices to it, including the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Unlike the previous headset that was 7.1, the F540 is only in stereo but will work with a variety of sources. There is a wireless base station with that connects with a 3.5mm connection or RCA plugs to your game console, TV, DVD player, MP3 player, or other devices, including up to three at once. There is also a noise-canceling microphone that allows voice chat in PS3 and 360 games. The F540 headset can go about ten hours between charges and, due to its rechargeable batteries, you can even let it charge while you're using it via USB. On the headset are separate controls for source audio, microphone audio, mute, and input selection so you can have multiple devices connected to it at once.
The Logitech F540 will launch in October in the US and November in Europe. Price will be $149.99.

AOL Purchases TechCrunch
AOL announced today its purchase of technology blog TechCrunch. The deal was finalized at a conference in New York, and the deal is rumored to be worth more than $25 million. The site generates much less than that per year in revenue, bringing in about $10 million. The site was founded in 2005 by Michael Arrington, and has been financed by him ever since. In the deal, Arrington retains editorial control and incentives are in place to keep the staff on after the acquisition. TechCrunch joins Engadget in the AOL family, and its business model focused on ad supported content. The two sites will remain separate but supportive of each other.

OCZ Onyx 2 SSD Launches
OCZ has just launched its latest solid state drive, the Onyx 2. The Onyx 2 is said to be a cost efficient SSD that will help to get more people to experience the benefits of owning one. It is designed for desktop and laptop users and comes in the 2.5" form factor. OCZ is aiming to make its SSDs not only faster but also more affordable and the Onyx 2 has a lower price per gigabyte than other competitor's drives. The Onyx 2 SSD has a Sandforce controller that will produce read speeds of 270MB/second and write speeds of 265MB/s. It does feature TRIM support for Windows 7 users so it should last for some time in your system.
The OCZ Onyx 2 SSD will come in 120 and 240GB versions though no mention of price or availability was announced at this time. OCZ offers a two-year warranty which is good but I would like to see something longer for an SSD.
