Google loses more US search share in August, says comScore
comScore's latest analysis of the US search marketplace claims that the mighty Google has lost more ground in August, enabling Yahoo and Bing to grab more market share. To talk numbers, we have Google on top with a 60.5%, down from 61.6% in July, followed by Yahoo with 21% (up from 20.1%), and Bing with 12.8% (up from 12.6%).

Intel Atom shrinking to 15nm
Intel is reportedly aiming to advance its Atom architecture with chips based on 15 nanometer processes. The technology would represent a significant leap, as current Atom offerings are all based circuits with a minimum of 45nm technology. Even the Cedar Trail platform, scheduled succeed the Pine Trail series in 2011, will be the first Atoms to be based on a 32nm process. The future endeavors were displayed this week in a SoC chart presented at the Intel Developer Forum. Aside from the 15nm offerings, the company also plans to expand a variety of 22nm chips that will hit the market after the 32nm designs have been finalized.

PS3 getting Blu-ray 3D-supporting firmware next week
Sony at its TGS press conference revealed that PlayStation 3 firmware update 3.50 will be released September 21st. The firmware update is notable because it will give gamers Blu-ray 3D support for their console. PS3 owners have had 3D gaming support for months, thanks to a past firmware update.

Apple prepares iPad newspaper subscription plan
Apple is preparing to announce a newspaper subscription plan for the iPad tablet, one where revenue will be shared by the publishers and Apple. As part of the deal, Apple will implement an opt-in feature that will let users share their personal info with publications. The publishers need that info to share demographics with advertisers.
