This doesn't actually have anything to do with Google's own intentions to get into the Internet servicing business, but you may assume so at first glance. It seems that Google is still considering where to roll out their fiber-based ISP, but if you need lightning fast Internet right now, you may need to move to Chattanooga, Tennessee. That small town has just announced the fastest U.S. Internet speeds, with 1 Gigabit speeds being made available for both businesses and residents. EPB Fiber Optics, which is Chattanooga's

The First Klingon Opera Takes Flight
The Klingons are a warrior race in the Star Trek universe, and there's even been an official language created for it (by a linguist, no less), with an official Klingon Dictionary, to boot. What's to prevent them from creating an opera around the language, then? Nothing, really. Thus, an opera, called "U," kicked off a three-day run at the Zeebelt Theater Friday in The Hague, Netherlands. "U" is the Klingon word for "universe" or "universal." Worf and Gowron, from ST:TNG, via Wikimedia Commons "U" tells the story

NVIDIA Launches GeForce GTS 450, Affordable DX11 Graphics
As its GTS moniker denotes, NVIDIA's new GeForce GTS 450 is targeted at the mainstream market. That card's reference specifications call for a 783MHz GPU clock, with 1566MHz CUDA cores, and 902MHz GDDR5 memory (3608MHz effective data rate). With those frequencies, stock GeFore GTS 450 cards offer 57.7GB/s of memory bandwidth with a 25.1GigaTexel/s textured fillrate. As is typically the case with mainstream NVIDIA GPU’s, however, board partners will be releasing cards clocked somewhat higher than the reference

NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 Affordable DX11 GPU
NVIDIA may have had to navigate a tumultuous path on their way to releasing the company’s first DirectX 11 desktop GPU, the GF100-based GeForce GTX 480, though they seem to be firing on all cylinders at this point. In the last 5 or so months since the GeForce GTX 480 arrived, NVIDIA has released—or will imminently release—a slew of other new DX11-class GPUs, targeted at markets ranging from low-power thin-and-light notebooks to mid-range desktop gaming systems. And the GTX 480 remains the company’s

Whether or not it’s worth the asking price remains to be seen, however. So let’s dig in and find out what the new GeForce GTS 450 is made of and if it deserves a place in your next system.

Speech to text
Ok so as some of you know I have not been around much as of late. Part of what has kept me so busy is that my brother has come to live with my fiancée and I. He is autistic. With that he can not read. He is a big geek like me and he knows his ABCs. For the most part he is good to go on a computer, but I've been looking around for some speech to text program so that at the very least he can say talk to me over steam message while I am at work. A more feature rich program that could read to him and dictate his speech would be awesome. I don't mind paying for software, I just don't know were to look. I don't wanna spend $200 on software that doesn't meet my needs. So any ideas or points in the right direction would rock. Thanks you all!

Quad Vs Six cores
For those that have seen by signature realize that I am in serious need of a new rig.
My impediment has been time. I've looked at Digital Storm, but I like the knowledge of building myself. My last creation has kept me busy and online for almost 7 years now.
I have been using dual Xenon and like the stability. Will I be satisfied with a single quad or six core? I build things to last. How different are Xenons compared to consumer CPUs in regards to integrity and longevity? I know the Xenons are built for 24/7 up-time. Current computer has been on for almost 7 years except for maintenance purposes. This is not a gaming rig and I do use it as a server.
Current system has been significantly lacking as I am also into video editing and website graphics.
Here is a look at a possible build:
Case:Cooler Master 942 HAF
Motherboard:ASUS P6X58D Premium
CPU: i7 970 (six core) vs i7 960 (four core)
Harddrive:WD 2TB Black x2
PSU: Seasonic X750 vs 850D
RAM:Crucial 1600 DDR3 6GB will add more as needed
Optical Drive: DVD writer will add Blu-ray later
Video:Considering Radeon 5850 with 1GB, Dual DVI support, 256 bit interface. Preferably with good heat sink and fan. Again looking for something that will last, not necessarily fastest, but needs to get the job done.
Obviously if I were to go with dual quad or six core Xenons this would change several components and add another $1000 or so. Current build is under $2500 and I would prefer to keep it that way, if possible.
Thanks for any input and help.

"U" is the Klingon word for "universe" or "universal."

Worf and Gowron, from ST:TNG, via Wikimedia Commons
"U" tells the story of Kahless the Unforgettable who, according to canon, unified the Klingon people and became the first Klingon emperor. "U" co-creator Floris Schonfeld told Reuters: "Klingon are known as passionate opera lovers but at the same time very little was known about Klingon opera here so as far as I was concerned that was a very interesting challenge to try and make an authentic, or as authentic, something out of that as possible."Here is, of course, the Earth.
In Star Trek canon, of course, Earth did not know of Klingons as yet, so this is somewhat of a time-travel episode, one might assume.
In "U." Kahless is betrayed by his brother (not unusual in Klingon culture) and witnesses his father's brutal death. He must fight to regain his honor by traveling into the underworld, reuniting with his true love, Lukara, before finally having a showdown with his arch-enemy, the tyrant Molor.
The show appears to have been well-received, with an audience member, Erwin Siegers, saying after a preview on Thursday evening, "It was really well interpreted, the music was really good, and the performance of the actors were fantastic."
The "real" Klingon people have also been invited to see the show, via a message beamed via a radio telescope in April to their home star, Arcturus. However, it will take 36 years to reach them, which means even at maximum warp speed they will be a tad bit late for performances in the Netherlands or those scheduled for later this month in Frankfurt.

Google Provides Instant Search Results
Have you noticed something different about Google recently? Yesterday, Google started rolling out a major overhaul to its familiar homepage. Now, you'll see instant search results that are generated with each key that you type. These results will be shown in addition to the search suggestions that were previously available. The new feature is known as Google Instant. It's based on the idea that people type more slowly than they read. Because you'll be able to scan for results while you type, Google hopes you'll find the right content more quickly than before because you won't have to finish typing a search term or even press search to find the result you want.

126 million results, just .27 seconds...

Google says it will take a couple of days for Google Instant to be available to everyone on Google.com. The rollout began with users on Google domains in the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Russia. The feature is currently compatible with the following browsers: Chrome v5/6, Firefox v3, Safari v5 for Mac and Internet Explorer v8.
