Dell: Windows XP Rides Off into the Sunset
According to Dell, Windows XP will finally "ride off into sunset" next month. Then again, how many times have we heard this before? Per Microsoft guidelines regarding Windows XP, system vendors like Dell will no longer be able to ship systems with XP Professional and XP Home after October 22, 2010. This means that we will stop offering XP as an option for customers starting this month in preparation for next month's deadline. One other important thing to note is that Dell plans to continue Windows XP driver support until December 2012. Comments

Craigslist Faces New Wave of Political Attacks
Craigslist, fresh off its one day self-censorship campaign, faces a new wave of political attacks. Next up for Mr. Newmark? Appearing before a congressional committee. Fun, fun, fun! And now, two sources have told CNET, a congressional committee has asked Newmark to testify at a hearing in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday afternoon on the topic of "domestic minor sex trafficking." About the only thing that might make matters worse, perhaps, would be President Obama himself joining the anti-Craigslist fray. Comments

Man from Fort Gay Banned From XBL
A man from West Virginia was banned from Xbox Live for listing "Fort Gay" as his home town. It took a while to sort out but everything is back to normal and the man's account has been restored. Hack Attack Hits Home for AP Writer
Having your Twitter account hacked is not news, I repeat…NOT news. Well, unless you are an Associated Press writer, then it is headline news and schmucks like me repost it. So you can imagine how bummed I was last week — and how violated I felt — when I discovered someone had nabbed my Twitter feed and fired off about 100 tweets in a matter of minutes. Most of it was gibberish about drug charges, sex, the Galaxy Tab and Stephen Hawking. Comments

Felt Marker Voids Your Hard Drive Warranty?
Does this story sound right? I have RMA'd a few hard drives in my time, more than a few with felt marker scribbles all over them, and never had a problem like this. What about you? I had a sticker on the drive as a label, as they went into a RAID. Everyone labels their drives with a sticker, or they just write on the drive. I guess this is a warning to all computer users out there. Do not allow anyone to write on your drive, it will apparently void the warranty. Comments
