The last couple of decades have brought about a number of movies that in one way or another try to capture geek psychology and culture. We've seen everything from the hilariously misconceived hacker that can get into any computer by frantically typing random commands until the words 'access granted' appear on-screen (I'm looking at you Hugh Jackman), to a few gems that hit closer to the mark of portraying what it's like to be a geek or an outsider.

Microsoft cofounder sues Apple, Google, Facebook, more
Microsoft cofounder Paul Allen has essentially sued the Internet today, chasing after 11 massive IT companies for patent infringement. Allen has opened suit against Apple, Facebook, Google (and its subsidiary YouTube), AOL, eBay, Netflix, Office Depot, OfficeMax, Staples, and Yahoo, alleging that they use technology created by his firm in the 90s.

Download of the Week: Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, HWiNFO32
Taking a little departure from our usual 'Download of the Week' posts today I want to highlight not one, but two programs that we recently became official mirrors for (along with CCEnhancer which was featured last week). The first of them is Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, a simple yet powerful and relatively speedy malware removal tool that's available in free and paid versions. The main difference between the two is real-time monitoring, but if you don't need active scanning against threats, the free version uses the same database and does an excellent job hunting down nasty infections.

Fujitsu adds Radeon HD 550v GPU to LifeBook AH530
Fujitsu has announced a new version of the LifeBook AH530 for users requiring more demanding graphics performance. The company repeatedly says that its new model has an "external" 1GB ATI Radeon HD 550v GPU, but we're pretty sure it's a standard discrete onboard chip and not shipped as some kind of separate adapter, in case that throws you for a loop.

Lenovo to release eBox game console in China
In a rather unexpected move, Lenovo has revealed plans to enter the video game business with a controller-free console that would compete with the likes of Microsoft's Xbox 360, Nintendo's Wii, and Sony's PlayStation 3. According to Lenovo spokesperson Jay Chen, the eBox has been in development for a while, but only recently a team of employees split off into a separate Lenovo-owned company, Beijing eedoo Technology, in anticipation of a launch later this year.
