Firefox 4 beta 3 adds support for multitouch on Windows 7
Firefox 4 is coming together steadily with another beta build now available. Mozilla pushed out Firefox 4 Beta 3 earlier today, which the organization has deemed stable and cleared for standard use. We would mostly agree with that, having used the first and second beta versions extensively. Personally, I've only experienced a handful of bugs which seem to be Flash-related, and they're uncommon anyhow.

Game industry added $4.9 billion to US economy last year
The Entertainment Software Association has released a 32-page report breaking down some statistics about video game jobs in the United States. The group claims that the industry added almost $5 billion to the US GDP last year, and entertainment software's annual growth rate from 2005 to 2009 exceeded 10% -- more than seven times that of the US economy.

According to iSuppli, an increasing number of notebooks are shipping with integrated graphics, which makes sense considering the fact that Intel has begun selling processors with a built-in graphics core. AMD is also working toward a combined CPU/GPU solution with its Fusion project. Not to mention the rising demand for "all day" computing solutions, which require more power efficiency than the average discrete GPU can provide.

Wii sales reach 30 million in the U.S.
Continuing to lead the current generation of gaming consoles, the Nintendo Wii has hit a major milestone this month with more than 30 million units sold in the U.S. alone. The console first debuted in November 2006, around the same time Sony released the PlayStation 3 and a full year after Microsoft launched the Xbox 360. In other words it took 45 months for the Wii to hit this milestone, making it the fastest-selling console ever, 15 months faster than the PS2.

July brings lower-than-expected revenue for mobo makers
July proved to be a tough month for motherboard manufacturers, with most reporting lower-than-expected revenue according to DigiTimes. Gigabyte witnessed a healthy 44.4% sequential growth thanks to strong demand in China (still a 12.95% drop YOY), shipping 1.75 to 1.85 million motherboards and 200,000 to 250,000 graphics cards. Other big names didn't fare quite as well.

Amazon considers hardware beyond Kindle e-readers?
According to a recent post in The New York Times' Bits blog, Amazon could be looking into producing more hardware beyond the Kindle in a bid to expand its reach in the digital marketplace. The report is based on unnamed sources "with direct knowledge of the companyÂ’s plans" and notes how the well-known online retailer has recently posted job listings for 70 positions related to its hardware department, responsible for the Kindle, known as Lab 126.
