Clearwire to trial LTE network, remains committed to WiMAX
Clearwire currently runs a WiMAX network across dozens of U.S. cities, offering "4G" connectivity through dongle modems, mobile hotspots and the EVO 4G handset. But while the company continues to expand its network footprint every month, and partners including Sprint, Comcast, Time Warner Cable, and soon Best Buy sell 4G service under their own brand names, it seems everyone else is committing to the LTE technology that is fast becoming a global standard.

Nielsen: Gaming surpasses email in time spent online
According to new data from Nielsen, Americans spend 10.2% of their time online playing games, up from 9.3% in 2009, ranking as the second busiest activity. That's ahead of email which accounts for a declining 8.3%, but far behind social networking at 22.7%, the most used Web activity. Google Wave killed, drifts into the sunset
Google today announced plans to discontinue Google Wave, its real-time communication and collaboration platform that launched only a few short months ago. Initially hailed as an "email killer," we were quite intrigued when we first laid eyes on Wave last year. So much in fact, that two TechSpot staff members purchased early invites on eBay to check it out.

Microsoft readying the Arc Touch Mouse for September?
Earlier this week Microsoft teased a new "touchy" and "flat" device that led many to believe the company was preparing a competitor to Apple's recently launched Magic Trackpad. Palit announces overclocked GTX 460 with 2GB of memory
It's been nearly a month since the GTX 460 stormed into the mainstream graphics market, convincing hardware buffs that Nvidia is still very much alive and kicking, despite a rough start with Fermi. The card originally launched with 768MB or 1GB of GDDR5 VRAM, but vendors are now starting to announce iterations with two gigs of memory. Last week, Gainward revealed a slightly overclocked GTX 460 with 2GB of RAM, and Palit (Gainward's owner) has followed suit with a seemingly identical product.

MSI's P600, S6000 notebooks now shipping in the US
MSI has announced the US availability of its P600 and S6000 "thin and light" notebooks, which were originally unveiled back in March. The machines are virtually identical, featuring a 15.6-inch 1366x768 display, an Intel Core i5-450M CPU and GMA HD graphics, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, 500GB of storage, and an ultra-slim DVD drive. However, the P600 carries an eight-cell battery with a max life of eight hours while the S6000 cuts that in half, lowering the system weight from 5.3lbs to 5.0lbs.

UltraSn0w lets you use the iPhone 4 with other carriers
Just two days after the iPhone Dev Team made it possible for iPhone owners to install unsanctioned applications on their devices, a new version of their carrier unlock tool ultrasn0w is now ready for prime time. The unlock tool allows jailbroken handsets to be used on carriers not approved by Apple -- provided that they use a compatible network, of course. In the U.S. that alternative is T-Mobile, but unfortunately its network can only achieve 2G/Edge speeds on the iPhone.
